Also, the theme song is ruined. It sounds like it's being played by a kazoo and a synthesizer.
Indeed-- far more was put into that seventh-season track (1985-86) than the eighth one (1986-87).

Indeed-- that part's pretty dang good; the rest of the sequence pales in comparison. One part I do enjoy about S8 is the opening seconds, where they linger over the ocean and add in "wavy" sounds. Someone obviously wanted to re-emphasize the idea of the characters living oceanside (as the show did in the first three or four years), even in the opening titles.
It ruins the flow of the whole sequence. Everyone else turns their heads slowly, but she has to spin her head around as if she were Susan Sullivan. It doesn't work for her...AT ALL.I’m watching Laura’s head spin in the season 9 intro. Who does she think she is, Maggie Gioberti?
I think that’s odd too. The ocean is nice, but you only get a quick glimpse of the homes before the background goes black, unlike the intro from season 3-7.I remember the first time I saw this ep 1 of season 8 - I thought my VHS tape had got stuck with the helicopter over the sea. Why wasn't it panning up to the cliffs?
I did not like the season 14 arrangement.
Mainly because it was a throwback to the S3-8 scores, which are my least favorites, sonically. My musical favorites are, in order: S12/13, S11, S1/S2.Why didn't you like the final-season (1992-93) title track?
I agree that the 12-14 graphics are not a problem. I really like them although they are very 90s and haven’t aged well. I think without the coloured frames it wouldn’t look out of place today.I am in the minority here, but my favorite openings are seasons 12 & 13, both aurally and visually. This is the era I began watching CBS original broadcasts. The musical arrangements are the best of the series (hard to pick one as my favorite - they are very similar, only a slight variation of the season 12 version was introduced season 13). I've read the comments here on the visual "failings" of these new title graphics - it never seemed to bother me! To me, these openers captured the "casual" feel of Knots - a southern California seaside setting. The Dallas, Dynasty and Falcon Crest openings all seemed more "formal", perhaps stodgy, by comparison? I did not like the season 14 arrangement.
Yeah, the overall effect is class. Maybe I like the colored frames BECAUSE they are 90s...reminds me of a fond moment in my life?I agree that the 12-14 graphics are not a problem. I especially like the different speeds everything moves at and also that it’s not as crowded. Less is more
