What TV shows do you wish you could own?

I know we have a long-lasting discussion going about the TV shows we all own, but are there any shows you wish you could own?

What I mean is, do you have a TV show, miniseries, series of specials, what have you, that isn't available on any physical media or streaming platform that you'd like to in some form?

Likewise, are there any that are available but you haven't gotten around to buying or having access to yet?

What say you?

Mine is probably the late 60’s nighttime soap Harold Robbins’ The Survivors. From what I’ve read, it wasn’t a great show and the behind the scenes dramas probably would’ve made a better series, but with a cast including Lana Turner and location shooting in the South of France, I’m really curious to see it. There’s only a promo, the opening credits (from Italy) and a clip from one scene online. I don’t know if it was ever repeated in its entirety but I’ve read that it was repackaged into a 90 minute film called The Last of the Power Seekers, for broadcast on TV during the 70’s. The only solid bit of info that I have that it exists somewhere is that the episode films are stored in a library in California and is (or at least was) available to view on request.

Bare Essence used to be my holy grail of unavailable 80’s soaps but having caught a couple of episodes (that are no longer available) online, I realise that I wasn’t missing much but would still like to see it in its entirety.

And while I’m thankful for the sometimes grainy VHS rip that’s out there to watch, I’d really love to see a cleaned up copy of Central Park West on DVD or streaming.

- the 17 episodes of the mystery anthology series Journey To The Unknown (1968)
- Let The Blood Run Free (hard to find and very expensive DVDs. Can't they just re-release it for me, dammit)
- complete Tyrant (2014 - 2016) but only the first season has officially manufactured DVDs. Maybe I'll buy the fake DVDs anyway, it's such a fantastic series.
- the Netflix series Ozark, a complete box set has been released but it looks kinda funny and I have yet to read a positive review.
- Fargo season 4 - where IS it??
- complete Black Mirror. A complete box set does exist but just like Ozark it looks kinda fishy.

Other series that I'd love to see but not necessarily need to have (because I don't know how good it is):
- Executive Suite (1976)
- The Sullivans

I think I should buy Breaking Bad, yeah...I really should. If only for that magnificent "The Fly" episode (no sarcasm).

Harold Robbins’ The Survivors.
I'd love to have this!

I have this want to own classic, or old, TV shows on DVD.

There are a few (that I can think of right now) that aren't available in their entirety on physical media that I'd like to have:

The four I'd want MOST:
PETTICOAT JUNCTION
PEYTON PLACE
MY THREE SONS
JULIA

Then these would be bonuses:
OUR MISS BROOKS
I MARRIED JOAN
MY LITTLE MARGIE
THE BEULAH SHOW
THE FLYING NUN

And then there's some that I could buy on DVD, but I just haven't yet:

MISTER ED
MY MOTHER THE CAR
LEAVE IT TO BEAVER
HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE
HERE COMES THE BRIDES
THE BIG VALLEY
FAMILY AFFAIR
EVENING SHADE
THAT GIRL
THE RIFLEMAN

There's more I could add to both of these lists, and I'll do so later. I just wanted to get a partial list uploaded at least.

This first part, Trapper John, M.D. represents-- I've been hoping that CBS late-70s to mid-80s medical series would be on some form of physical, yet it might never be (and it perplexes me that the other show he's known for, Bonanza, which he didn't even finish, is in full on DVD, while Trapper has nothing to show for it).

Likewise, are there any that are available but you haven't gotten around to buying or having access to yet?

Very definitely Spenser: For Hire w/Robert Urich in the title role-- I had the first go of it a time back, and found it wanting, but now as it's in an all-in-one (complete series), I'm thinking about giving it a second chance.

How could I forget THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES? I'd love to own all nine seasons on DVD.

I've kept searching for Civil Wars (1991-1993) a short-lived show about divorce lawyers which only had two little-watched seasons. I am interested because two of its cast (Alan Rosenberg and Debi Mazar) were moved into the final season of LA Law, and I liked them so much there. But aside from footage of the credits, a promo, and a 4 minute clip on YouTube, the show has completely evaporated into the ether. The only place I even saw offering it cost over $300 with shipping which is too much for a 36 episode series. Otherwise, no videos of it anywhere and no discs. It's like it never existed....

In terms of owning, I'd like to have Flamingo Road on DVD, followed by Bare Essence. However, I've watched parts (or even all?) of both series on YouTube at some point, so it's more about owning than rewatching. In terms of rewatching and owning, I'd like to have the Australian soap Taurus Rising. I watched the soap when it first aired in Germany in 1989 and cut the synopsis of (almost) every episode from the TV guide at the time, so I still know a little of the plot but don't remember that much. I'd like to refresh my memory and am still hoping for a German DVD release, as the dubbed tapes (as far as I know) still exist in the archives of ARD, which broadcast Taurus Rising back then.

PETTICOAT JUNCTION has long been on my list of must-own TV shows. Even though it's my least favorite of the Paul Henning ruralcoms from the '60s, I'd still like to have it in my collection.

With that, I'd love to own all of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, too, because why not? I have the first four seasons already.

MY THREE SONS is one of the longest-running live action sitcoms in TV history. That alone would make me want to own it. I had a similar desire to have all of OZZIE & HARRIET (which I now own).

PEYTON PLACE would be a good addition to my collection, too. I'd love to have TV's first primetime soap on my self.

JULIA would be nice to have as well, considering it was one of the first primetime TV show to feature a black female in a non-stereotypical role.

I'd be in favor of you having that as well-- shame that Shout! didn't release all that much of it, that hit 60s ABC prime serial that was, IIRC, the first of its kind and ahead of its time.

Right. I was hoping they'd keep releasing them. Were the sales poor?

I don't know what it was that had 'em stopping where it was; a crying shame it did, though.

Ok, I can now add the original LASSIE series, which aired from 1954 to 1973, as a DVD set I'd love to own in its entirety, but I know that's.... wishful thinking!

I can add THE MONKEES to a complete box set that I could buy, but just haven't yet. It's so expensive!
