Why didn't anyone like Kristin? And was she really the ideal assailant?

I just never saw her character as a convincing assailant, regardless of her age.
She was a bit bitchy, brattish, a bit devious and just wanted JR for herself but she only ever sulked and got upset.

Carrying that out would have taken some nerve and I just can't see that Kristin could've held it together. She showed fear of JR and wanting to kill him also seemed too far off the scale.

But then she did end up on drugs and never did go to architecture college so I guess anything was possible for her.

I wonder where she learned to handle a gun?

and they couldn’t stop anyone from entering J.R. and Bobby’s offices without an appointment.
This reminds me of the number of times Alexis invited herself into the Carrington mansion without an invitation. It was poor Krystle having to act as security each and everytime. I mean, Krystle had the shoulder pads. Why not put them to use? But this comment should belong somewhere in a Dynasty thread.

Anyone storming JR or Bobby's office made for great drama and when the Ewing offices were expanded to 3 secretaries people still managed to get past them.

Yep. Their catchphrase was "I'm sorry, I tried to stop him." Lol

Kristen was a one note character with no redeeming qualities. She and Sue Ellen were sisters in name only and Kristen was delusional to have believed that JR was going to ever marry her. Men don't marry the mistress.

Sue Ellen taught her. Neither were a good shot.
Sue Ellen was probably pickled when she taught Kristin.
Later when Sue Ellen tries.....yes I agree bad aim, She was so used to being crossed eyed!

Kristin was Amy Fisher -- a more attractive Amy Fisher.
It wasn't Sue Ellen in the office that night. Oh imagine!
The rest of Fisher's story would have made a compelling plot.

Wasn't she a Texan? Lol
Ah yes, a normal everyday accessory.

Of all the times JR said he was "working" late and on that very night he was. Serve him right for all those times he lied.

The best assailant depends on the question how JR was shot.
For most characters the damage was already done therefore it was no longer a matter of trying to "stop" him.
The Kristin solution feels a bit like the "hysterical female" cop out.
Alternatively, how about crazy Amanda Ewing who thinks she shooting a younger version of Jock? I don't remember, was she even considered a culprit?

Miss Ellie was the best culprit since she wouldn't do it to hurt or punish JR. She would, in all her helplessness, literally try to put an end to all of it, and she certainly wasn't going to get any help from Jock.
Of course she would get away with it - Ewings don't do scandals, or at least that's the plan - and it would be very difficult to "reboot" the story and have things continue the way it always happens in soap opera, but I think DALLAS at that time could have pulled it off.

She wasn’t considered a suspect. Being in an institution obviously gave her a clean alibi. She did think Bobby was Jock so maybe she could’ve been a suspect four years later in his shooting.

Killed off too soon. She should have came back once Sue Ellen was divorced and have sleep with all of SEs potentials.

Amanda was nuts. Had nice idea who anyone was let alone JR even existed.
