Anyone a fan of John Hughes and his movies? He was an influential and prolific writer-producer-director of coming-of-age comedy-dramas.

He made a series of popular teenage/young adult movies in the '80s, including SIXTEEN CANDLES (1984), THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985), WEIRD SCIENCE (1985), PRETTY IN PINK (1986), and FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF (1986).

Hughes also produced/wrote the first entry of the VACATION series called NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION (1983), the first two BEETHOVEN movies, and a trilogy of HOME ALONE movies. He has many other movies to his credit.

I believe he wrote and/or produced those films, but didn't direct them. Wikipedia and IMDB list only 8 films that he directed, which is a surprisingly skimpy resume.

Despite the small size of his filmography as a director, I like most of his films. I think FERRIS BUELLER and WEIRD SCIENCE are two of the best films of the 80s, with SIXTEEN CANDLES not far behind. I've never liked THE BREAKFAST CLUB and I'm not sure I've ever watched it in its entirety. PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES ranks high among my favorite comedies ever; I watch it every Thanksgiving. I'm fairly indifferent to UNCLE BUCK, and I don't think I've seen his other two films as a director: CURLEY SUE and SHE'S HAVING A BABY.

I fixed my typo.

I used to love THE BREAKFAST CLUB, but I won't watch it anymore because the language is too rough. I've always liked SIXTEEN CANDLES and WEIRD SCIENCE as well, and for some reason, I often think the movie ST. ELMO'S FIRE was part of his resume. Hughes had nothing to do with the production of that movie, however, although he did recommend Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, and Ally Sheedy for leading roles.

I'm very fond of UNCLE BUCK and I always have been. I've always enjoyed John Candy as an actor, and I think he was perfectly suited to play Buck Russell. All of Candy's roles seem like they were written especially for him, and the Buck Russell part fits him like a glove. He plays the part effortlessly and I enjoy the movie overall.

I loved John Hughes movies, well some of them. I love " The Breakfast Club" it is my favourite. I still watch it from time to time. I also loved Pretty in Pink, Dutch, Home Alone, Sixteen Candles, and Some Kind of Wonderful. I'm not a huge comedy fan but I enjoyed his films.

I’m prepared to take some heat for this one but I’ve never seen the big deal about Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I think I’m the only person I know that feels this way but for some reason I just never could get into it.
