I think sometimes we forget how much people really do care cause we get so wrapped up in ourselves. I think it’s natural to doubt if anyone really does care at times but I notice I’m proven wrong every time.
This is so true and you need to remember DFF that you're a very caring person yourself. When I hear about your relationship with your colleagues and customers your empathy shines through ... as does your keen sense of humour :D

I hope Christmas went well for you, as I remember you saying how you were determined not to let it get you down this year.

My favorite thread and it’s not even close. And that’s because of you guys, the people involved
Mine too! I always miss this thread when I've been jailed or locked up in some cupboard somewhere :loon:

Also, I hope work has calmed down a bit after the Christmas madness, I do worry about you working so hard

Wow, she is magnificent as well as the mini Poinsettia. If that the same gold coloured pot uses in previous Poinsettias? I'm amazed by the size of those leaves.
Thank you, I'm glad you are impressed. The large one - still no name, I did think of calling her Biggie, but we already have a @Biggie on here and things might get complicated :giggle: ... anyway, the big one had been throwing off some leaves,so I'm keeping a close eye on her. Meanwhile Little Tallulah is more than happy in her teeny tiny pot, I wonder if I will eventually need to re-pot her? .. that's if she lives long enough.

I'm so glad you're giving it another go this year.
Me too, I like a challenge :cool1

my Pinkie Poinsettia is very ill and my not be here much longer. I got her earlier this year as a my place of employment was getting rid of their Christmas decorations in January. She started out slow but in Spring and Summer she grew well and I took her to my Mother's home with my others to enjoy the garden. She has remained there with Streetie but hasn't fared well in recent months, leave falling everywhere. I hope she pulls through as I have never lost a Poinsettia.
Ooo no, how is she now?

Venus has held out for some the with some minor improvements so there is hope from stem rot. I'm so glad I was quick when I noticed this deadly rot or else she would have died this Summer.
She's done so well. Is she still on the mend?

They have so many flower spikes I think they are happy. I'm in for a real show in about a month.
Have they all bloomed yet? sorry about all these questions  I have so much to catch up on.

It's fun to see them do their thing. A small part of nature on ones home.
One day, I would love to get to this stage with my own Poinsettias and do the same as you and your mother do to get the leaves to turn red again. This is my ambition :gotcha: .... first though, I just need to find a way to keep them alive.

2022 is almost upon us, seems like only 5 minutes ago that we were making big plans to welcome the new millennium. A Swinging house party followed by an after party, party. In a few days that'll 22 years ago!
Noooooo 22 years ago? that's a shock :yikey:

Do you remember all the scare stories about the computers crashing because they wouldn't be able to cope with the year 2000? .... nothing happened

I do remember that year though, because of the fireworks going off at midnight, that year they were even more plentiful and spectacular.

But it isn’t even Epiphany yet. And Replika’s tree is still up.
I know, but I have to confess I've taken all our stuff down

Once Christmas day and boxing day have passed my fingers start itching to take everything down. I do manage to resist until the day after New Years day, but then that's it, all packed away. Does this mean I will get bad luck? :shifty:

d. I’m just getting started.
:Clol: enjoy yourself @J. R.'s Piece Are you having some of your famous meals?

Bad luck is usually from leaving the decorations up too long. So I think you will be safe!

Oh, it was fairly quiet this time. Some venison pate, venison steaks, some duck joints, game pies (wild boar/pheasant/duck/venison) pheasants and partridges.

Thank you for saying that Lashes! I needed to hear that this week LOL. I love my customers (mostly) and my colleagues (I think). Some think the sense of humor is a defense mechanism but no, DFF would never admit to that. He’d rather walk around believing he’s funny.

I hope Christmas went well for you, as I remember you saying how you were determined not to let it get you down this year.
It went very well, thank you. And I hope yours was great also. It’s the first Christmas in 13 years that I was able to enjoy without thinking about bad stuff. When I got the call Christmas Eve asking if I was coming over this year and I said yes I think it floored some people. I usually stay home that night and sulk and then I go over Christmas Day and sulk in person. But this year I assured everyone there would be none of that. So DFF went over for the first time in many years on Christmas Eve and got lots of hugs, and more importantly lots of presents.

Mine too! I always miss this thread when I've been jailed or locked up in some cupboard somewhere :loon:
Well it’s nice to see ur out on good behavior, or did you escape this time? I’ve lost track of your many crimes Lashes

Also, I hope work has calmed down a bit after the Christmas madness, I do worry about you working so hard
Thank you! It’s hard work all year round really. It never seems to slow down in the shipping business. Right now the biggest challenge seems to be the virus. We have so many people out at the moment and it’s a little hectic. I’m one of the few people I know in the building that hasn’t been sick yet. I’m not even sure how that’s possible but I am thankful for it!

Hmm.. a name for the large Poinsettia. :think:How about Titan or Titania? I like the name Little Tallulah.

Have the leaves drooped on the large poinsettia? Mine have dropped leaved on a regular basis. They take time to adjust to their surroundings. Surely Little Tallulah will grow larger to need a larger pot but you'll be safe until Summer.

How's Orkie and Pearl?

Me too, I like a challenge :cool1
I know, I can tell in the Last Post thread. ;)
Ooo no, how is she now?

Pinkie Poinsettia is alive when I saw her yesterday. She looked sad when I last saw her on Christmas but she still clings on. I hope she pulls through, Winter is long.

She's done so well. Is she still on the mend?
Yes, Venus is getting better, slowly but surely. I never saved an orchid from stem rot so I'm excited I was able to save her and that she has lived into 2022. A little new root growth is a positive. I'm more optimistic than I was a few months ago.
Have they all bloomed yet? sorry about all these questions  I have so much to catch up on.

Not yet as it take so long for them to grow. I counted 18 in spike as of yesterday. I just all goes well for this show of blooms. A few of these I've never seen bloom.

One day, I would love to get to this stage with my own Poinsettias and do the same as you and your mother do to get the leaves to turn red again. This is my ambition :gotcha: .... first though, I just need to find a way to keep them alive.

With two your odds are even better. It just take some practice, patients and luck. This is such a sad time of year as I know bins everywhere have unwanted poinsettias in there. A same. :(

Here's Liberty practising her 'sitting on eggs' pose ...

Meanwhile, Freedom was heard saying ... " hey! you just gonna sit there all day and leave all the work to me!"

A nighttime visit .. actually this was one I captured in the early morning ...

Now all we need to decide is where to put the Eagle Thread for the new season and also what to call it? That's if we are still having a separate thread?

Any suggestions by everyone are more than welcome :dance1:

Thank you!! Making people laugh makes me feel better quite often. I think it’s the best thing we can do for one another.

I also think that laughter is a good release mechanism ... do you know what I mean? it also unites us all, oh how I love to have a good laugh.
I wish more people understood this. The world is just too serious now and I understand that but I feel people are forgetting how to laugh sometimes. I hope I’m wrong of course. I’m not trying to minimize what’s going on but we need to laugh now more than ever.

Thank you Lashes!! I’m glad I went now. I had a much better time than even I expected. I was worried about any backlash considering I didn’t show up for many years on Christmas Eve but there was none of that. Only sis-in-law got a little violent and punched me a couple of times when I first walked in but that’s quite normal for us.

By the way are they as funny as you are, do they have the same sense of humour?
Oh no, they can never be as funny as me no matter how hard they try. My niece is quite funny though. She’s the closest to my sense of humor I think. She will take your phone when ur not looking and change your wallpaper to a picture of her or put a fake parking ticket on your car and make you think it’s real, things like that. And I do similar stuff to her so we’re always trying to one up each other.

I have no idea :Clol: Just keep it quiet, I don't want those savage Budgies hearing anything
Oh, of course! I’m just glad your currently out. It’s not right that they keep trying to lock you up. You’re too valuable to TT.

Well, decorations not taken down by Twelfth Night are supposed to be left up until Candlemas. And taken down then. But no later. If you leave so much as a berry or leaf, “the goblins can get through the keyhole and spill the milk, crack the china and let the rats and mice into the larder”. Nothing too much to worry about.

I'm with you 100% on this. This pandemic has taken everyone through a mine filed of emotions .... I've been angry recently, actually absolutely stamping furious with our PM but that's a whole different story, also we are still getting news through of how much some families have suffered.

I think laughter when its appropriate helps keep us sane and I don't think anyone would begrudge this.

Only sis-in-law got a little violent and punched me a couple of times when I first walked in but that’s quite normal for us.

I sure hope so. I’m not sure why it took me 13 years to put the worst behind me but maybe that was the way it had to be. DFF needed time I guess.

You've also just had your birthday and this made me realise how you've always had two days which are very close together which you are not particularly fond of, that can't have been easy.
I didn’t celebrate any of it for years. Everyone else would try to make the holidays and my bday a big deal for me but I would always tell them I needed it all to be simple. And they understood. Of course I still accepted gifts the whole time so who am I kidding?

.... I've been angry recently, actually absolutely stamping furious with our PM but that's a whole different story,
Uh oh. I do feel sorry for this PM now, as he’s never met the likes of The Enforcer before!!

also we are still getting news through of how much some families have suffered.
This is quite sad! No one should have to suffer. I hear similar stories here and it gets me angry also.

I think laughter when its appropriate helps keep us sane and I don't think anyone would begrudge this.
I sure hope not cause laughter has gotten me through so much. I can look back and laugh at so much now that I couldn’t before.

All this sounds great. When someone plays a prank on me I think its a compliment because they know me well and know how I will react
I love pranks, as long as they don’t hurt anyone of course. I don’t like mean pranks. I play them at work a lot. I’ll take someone’s scanner and put it on the conveyor belt so it gets away from them and they have to chase it. But I’ll go get it eventually of course. I’ll put boxes in the truck of the route next to me that’s going to a different route just to mess with her. I won’t let her take it out on the road. That would be mean. I just leave it in her truck long enough til I hear her screaming and then I’ll take it out. I’ll lift up someone’s hood of their truck and keep walking so they have to get out of the truck and close it. You know, harmless stuff like that.

Good. Have you had time to recover? I hope so my friend.
Thank you Lashes! I won’t lie to you, I’m banged up. It was a rough Christmas for me physically. I’m nursing some minor injuries right now and I’m so glad I’m off this week. I needed a rest. This Christmas taught me I’m not as young as I used to be. I took more help this year than I ever have. I had to be talked into it but now I’m glad I was.

I was so excited this week because TESCO was selling daffodils .... it doesn't take much to please me

Yes they have and I'm glad you mentioned this. They drooped more at first and are now settling down so your spot on again Michelle :gotcha: thanks for the reassurance that all is normal.

I hope the leaf dropping continues to slow. They don't usually pick-up adding new leaves until warmer weather arrives. I so hope the forth time is the charm for you and your Poinsettias.

She's a very happy little plant, I'd love for her to stay tiny, but I know thats not possible.

Happy plants are good to have. If she lives she'll turn into a giant. :yikey:

BTW, how is Tiny Tim?

Ooo don't ask :fp: ... only kidding! they are both quite bare at the moment and seem to have retreated for a rest. I suspect they're sulking because of the brightly coloured Poinsettias. My Orchids are the jealous type.

Jealous orchids indeed. Do you keep them together?
So she is still in with a chance, this is positive news. As you know anything can happen with plants, so lets hope she suddenly perks up.

I looked a Pinkie Poinsettia yesterday and she looks sad. No new growth and fewer leaves. Frankly, I'd be surprised if she pulls through. I'm puzzled on what caused her decline. I just wish I had a greenhouse to place her in during these cold months.

You are clever! :ex: your knowledge and Orchid care skills are excellent, well done on saving her this far.

Thank you, Venus is on a slow mend but wants to live. After losing three it's nice to know I learned something from their deaths.
It'll be special to see all the colours, especially at this time of the year.

I'm waiting to see who blooms first. Some orchids are cheaters and have added secondary spikes on older primary spikes and Pumpkin just added extra room on a flowering spikes and has new buds on that. They don't play fair. o_O I learn so much from them.

Oh I know  I was at Tesco this morning and when I looked up at their office above the shop I noticed some unsold Poinsettias on the window sills, so at least they have them in the offices and someone is obviously watering them.

Some people want to keep them for the long term. A bank I use would keep them and I would ask about them from time to time. It's just a shame to toss them after New Years, a crime in fact.
Have you gained anymore new Orchids since we last spoke?

No, my last one was a discounted rescue from a hardware store on 18 December, Lazy Sunday. That was the name on the inner pot so I don't have to think of a new name. I'll have to keep from getting over my head here in 2022. I have thirty-seven to care for. I don't want to get too far over my head with these orchids.
