Hello everybody:

Voilà my newest video, this time centered on the US soaps from the 80s and 90s that flopped. The used material has a very poor quality, but I thought it´s interesting to have all those soap clips together in one video. Enjoy it! And please post here links to other YouTube videos so I can do another one soon, maybe for the ones from the 2000s!

I'm surprised "The Colbys" is not there ! Don't you consider it as a (ratings) failure ?

Oh yeah, I do! But it got popularity awards and the cast was above average. I personally found it boring and kitsch (like "Flamingo") but a show that features Heston, Stanwyck and Beacham as main stars is not a failure, as, let´s say, "Titans" or "Pacific Palisades". Not to mention that "Models Inc." that produced 29 episodes but seems to be a total misfire.

I myself only watched "Flamingo" at the time, and a couple of episodes of "Titans" from YouTube. Anyway, the material I found for the video did make me wanna watch others like "Bare Essence", "4 Corners" or "Paper Dolls".

There is actually a Neighbours\Aaron Spelling connection here given Kimberly Davies from Pacific Palisades was in Neighbours prior to this alongside Lochie Daddo.

And Lochie's brother Cameron appeared as a main cast member on Models Inc.

Central Park West - given her Natalie Barnes character later on Corrie had storylines to rival those on CPW (son bumps off Judy Mallett's mother, her son is beaten up and her husband dies, she has affairs with other people's spouses, her son's body is found and she finds out her boyfriend is sleeping with her sister) CBS should have snapped up Denise Welch (given the UK was airing CPW) alongside Raquel Welch and promoted it as the battle of the Welches.

I've got the original miniseries downloaded.
I think I also got that, but not the complete thing, only 2 episodes from YouTube.

I think it's just two episodes I got from YouTube as well. But I think each episode was like two hours each, so I assumed that was the entire thing. Might be wrong on that assumption though.

According to Wikipedia, the original miniseries was four hours long.

Awesome job, Man I have been learning a lot from this forum. Some shows I didn't realize were soaps would like to check out Berringer, bare essence, four corners. I also seen elsewhere Winnetka road, second chances, and something angel title escape me. Also have been looking for 1st episodes of Paper Dolls, and flamingo road. Others I have seen like models inc, Pacific Palisades and little of CPW,.,

Great video @Toni. Another soap you could have included was Kings Crossing:

Secrets of Midland Heights was another one but I can't find anything of it online.

Well, THE COLBYS is really iffy, especially for me. Its first season ratings were decent, but it tanked its second season. With its high-profile cast, I suppose it was considered a high-profile failure. In my mind, its coupled with THE SURVIVORS, the late-'60s serialized drama that tanked horribly in the ratings, despite Lana Turner heading the cast.

Thanks a lot for mentioning it and posting the video. If I get enough, I could make a Part 2...

I’m kind of surprised that it did tank in that second season cause overall I thought the quality was still pretty good. But definitively not as good as the first season of course.

It tanked because CBS put "Knots Landing" in front of it during a few monthes. When "Knots Landings" returned to its former timeslot, the damage was done to "The Colbys" and the audience did not come back.
Proving yet again that KNOTS was a force to reckoned.

But KNOTS had a relatively steady audience, however, and by the late-'80s it was besting even DALLAS in the ratings.
