16 episode series from the BBC made late 70's. In the future 1990, Britain is under the rule of a very nasty right wing government, aided by secret police. Woodward plays Jim Kyle , a newspaper man who also leads a resistance group dedicated to overthrowing the dictatorship. There's some really disturbing episodes here, and as a Brit myself it's uneasy viewing seeing my homeland portrayed in this way. We have hospitals turned into re- education centres and torture centres. The Antagonists here The Public Control Department, led by Herbert Skardon played by Robert Lang are unscrupulous bastards, and you feel watching this that you just want to punch Skardon and his cronies in the face. Barbara Kellerman plays Delly Lomas , Skardon's sidekick in series 1, a lady with some affection for Kyle, but not enough to stop her work of helping subjugate the people.
