So so sad - she would have been 100 on January 17. I don’t normally feel sad when people of this age pass, but grew up with her as Rose on The Golden Girls. Can’t believe she’s gone.

Even though she was 99 I was kinda surprised that she died so close to her 100th birthday in a few weeks. With all the anticipated celebrations I had assumed she (or at least her publicist thought) she was in good enough health to make it to 17 January. Sad indeed.

Aside from Golden Girls, I will forever remember her as Stephanie's mother on The Bold and the Beautiful.

I hadn’t watched these scenes in quite awhile as I was taking a break from the show when Ann Douglas arrived. I thought Betty was terrific in those clips and she said more than once that she enjoyed playing a serious role for a change.
