Brookside BROOKSIDE returns next month.

Much missed Liverpool set BROOKSIDE is making a comeback on streaming, via BritBox. Certain classic episodes along with CROSSROADS and TAKE THE HIGH ROAD will be shown from July. Channel 4 needed a flagship show, away back in the day. The residents of the Close certainly took both sides of the water by storm, throughout the eighties. 'Brookie' was quite the mixture of down to earth realism, often dark stories and laughs to provide a balance. While the fall of the show was quite bad in the early noughties I still feel it could have been saved.

This is something that Channel 4 should have done years ago on their streaming service, instead of the measly three episodes that they feature. However, like @Ome said, it's great but I don't think a selection of episodes will be enough to drive subscribers to Britbox. People want to see full reruns.

got excited, bit of a misleading topic title. I think most of what thee will include will be what we got on the DVD a few years back. Id be up for a complete series run like we have had on drama with classic uk soaps recently. Although Corrie and Emmerdale did not go from the beginning, EastEnders did. Just goes to show that there still is that demand for a dedicated soap channel and there are so many options to fill the schedules.

As much as I liked Brookside (and I really liked Brookside) I am more excited about the return of Crossroads but not excited enough to buy a Britbox subscription. However, it's good to know that these great shows will be able to reach a wider audience.
