He keeps popping up in series I've been watching and rewatching in recent years: In Loving Memory (the project I most associate with his name); Last Of The Summer Wine; Miss Jones & Son; Whodunnit? He's proved quite versatile and very reliable.

Even though he was getting on in the latter Summer Wine episodes I watched last year, that perpetual baby face means I think of him as being much younger than he was.

Time immemorial
I only really know him as Edward from Upstairs Downstairs. A perpetually happy-go-lucky cheeky chappy for the entire series until he returns from the First World War in the final season. I've never forgotten his performance in this ep.

Another sad loss, I never saw Upstairs, Downstairs but do remember his appearances in latter series of Last Of The Summer Wine.

I only knew Beeny from Upstairs, Downstairs but I really liked him in that role. Though almost everybody was great in that splendidly-written show (much better than ultrasoapy Downton Abbey).
