Well, it was a thunderstorm and I was in this three story building. The power happened to go out as I’m on the elevator (of course), so I’m standing there all alone trapped up on the third floor. Luckily it was a glass elevator and I could see out, which made it a lot easier. In the lobby I could see three women standing there and they were all looking up at me and telling me it was going to be okay and they were going to get me out. That was the nicest part, having people concerned about me as I’m waiting there. To tell you the truth, it was also a little embarrassing because the glass made everything visible to everyone and I felt like such an idiot just standing there with everyone watching me and nothing to do. Okay, part of the job I guess. I will use one example of this house I go to.We’ve always hit it off. In fact, we hit it off instantly which is hard for DFF cause I’m notoriously shy at first. I mean I noticed very early on when I went there that she was hugging me and kissing me on the cheek, which I’m not complaining about of course. I just figured she was either very forward or whatever was in these packages must’ve meant a whole lot to her. Anyway, her house was getting totally redone at the time so she would ask me in to give me the grand tour. She’d give me sodas and offer me food. We’d chat for a few minutes but of course with that job I have to keep moving so I’d respectfully tell her I had to go. To make a long DFF story short, one day last year we’re talking outside her house and she proceeds to make my day. She starts saying the nicest things anyone has ever said to me. She’s telling me she thinks I’m the nicest person, she’s going on and on about my personality and manners, and she’s even telling me I’m gorgeous. I suggested an eye doctor for the last part but she said her eyes are just fine and likes what she sees. She even told me I smell good and when she asked me what I’m wearing I told her it’s my own special fragrance called “Perspiration.” I think what really helped my cause though was the fact that she wanted a dog and her son and husband were telling her she couldn’t have one. That didn’t make sense to me because her son didn’t even live at home anymore so I told her to get a dog if she wants one and her husband and son would pick up the pieces one day and move on with their lives. (I’m proud to say she listened to me and now has a puppy). Regardless, as you noticed there is a husband and DFF has the unfortunate flaw of being a gentleman so her and I have remained good friends and strictly professional, but I have to say it is nice to go to a house and be the center of someone’s affection for a few minutes. I am the center of her universe when I show up (LOL) and til this day everything including the dog, the husband and children get cast aside while I’m there. It’s a nice feeling.

Broken bones? Let’s see, I’ve broken bones in both wrists but continued working through the pain like an imbecile.
Most people I know haven’t ever even seen me in pants. I guess I only wear them for special occasions. As far as work goes, I can’t picture wearing anything but shorts here. I’m still amazed though that people work outside in them in your climate. Even I probably wouldn’t do that. I don’t mind it just as long as it’s not overdone, which I know is the definition of camp anyway but you know what I mean. Yes, things are different now than when we were growing up but we need laughter now more than ever in my opinion.
