Hi DFF, thought it was time I caught up here. No snow here at Christmas infact it was unseasonably mild which made it seem quite un-Christmassy. Having a very cold snap at the moment though, it's been 0 degrees today. I saw on the news earlier that snow is forecast for the middle of next week. I'll be keeping an eye on the weather forecast now. I think myself lucky because in my area some people have recently experienced terrible flooding with damage to their homes. That must be so awful. The floods were close but not in my area thank goodness. I bet they do, only because your stories are so detailed and almost unbelievable. I don't think you exaggerate and I really enjoy reading your posts. You must have some Christmas work stories to share? How was your job leading up to Christmas? I can imagine it was full on. Is it any better now it's January? I worked nights over Christmas which I was so cross about at first but ended up having 2 weeks off over new year which was great without using any Annual leave, just how the rota fell. I really enjoyed the fireworks in London for New Year, it was very special. Of course, I hadn't thought of that. I hope you were shown some appreciation by your customers. Although at first I resented having to work over Christmas, the lead up to it felt worse than actually doing it. Being there for the vulnerable people I support made it worthwhile. People often say it's only one day and really it is. There's so much pressure to make that one day so special, but I've had special days all over the place, not just Christmas Day. It did go by in a bit of a blurr mind you, but with such a supportive family they made it easier. Here's hoping you've had a great start to the year DFF! I'm loving our posts over on the Dallas threads. Hope you're keeping well, take care for now. Same for everyone else here too. Hey Biggie, how are you? When I was young you could guarantee that every family holiday we went on my Dad would bump into someone who knew him. It became a joke eventually, but 9 times out of 10 it would happen. We didn't go abroad and my parents managed pubs when I was growing up. I guess their customers travelled to the same places. You're right I don’t know it, but it's really good and I mean that. Reminds me of my "rave" days, well rave nights from the 90s. Definitely has that vibe about it. Hope you had plentiful pipes and peace for Christmas. Hi Lashes! I'll have to check that out when I get the chance. She's certainly an underrated talent. Yes we have no choice but to make the best of it. I've posted earlier to DFF about working Christmas but then managing to have 2 weeks off over new year. A lot of my early jobs as a youngster meant working at Christmas so I've done loads, then I had a job for 11 years where we closed over Christmas, even though it was a respite unit for children with complex needs, so I've been spoiled and it hit me hard. But I got through it thanks to my family and feel glad to have supported the vulnerable people I work with. But you would be so welcome to post on the Dallas threads. I would love to see you there. I would love anyone to come over and join us on the Dallas threads. Even if you feel you don't know a lot, any contribution is valuable, no matter how small. I'm going to start a campaign now to get you and some others over there. We do form special bonds because of our love for the subject but it's inclusive for all, everyone's invited. I really hope to see you over there soon! Take care for now.
