Hurricane Florence: nothing can be finer than to be out of the Carolinas...

The most powerful hurricane to ever strike north of South Carolina is expected by Thursday as a Category 4 storm.

Worse, it's expected to stall over land and drop half of the Atlantic (30 inches of rain is expected in Greensboro, NC, in just a day or two, and that's well inland).

Usually I plan a holiday and Im half way though it and a hurricane strikes

This year Im on the other side of the Atlantic and not caught up in the midst of things so im feeling smug

I just hope that everyone is safe and there is little damage to property and no loss of life = its a scary thing to be involved in and I never underestimate how powerful the weather can be and the destruction it can cause.
