"Women's social capital is now being tied to the #metoo victim identity." Yes it is. It's created a bandwagon effect. Now anything a man has said or done to a woman that's pissed her off can be misconstrued as something more sinister. But really, is there anything men do that isn't sinister in the eyes of third wave feminists? I can't count how many times I've seen feminist articles lambasting men for sharing their experiences of abuse. These "equality" loving feminists claim these men are trying to steal the spotlight from them. They also slam men who use the "#notallmen" hashtag in order to show the separation between decent men and abusive men. Apparently, that's just cis-hetero men normalizing the patriarchy, or whatever brand of word salad bullshit they're selling. Here's a commercial worth checking out. It shows a male athlete getting locked out of his room in his underwear. The maid let's him in, but not before snapping a picture of him without his consent and splashing it all over social media. I'm personally not bothered by it because it's just a commercial. What really kills me is the double standard. If the genders were reversed, It would have been yanked a second after it aired. Everybody involved in the making of the commercial would be forced to apologize, but not before losing their jobs. Again, equality in action.
