Ok, it's been a long time coming, but I am going to start FLAMINGO ROAD in the next week or so. I thought the series was uploaded on Plex, but I was mistaken. It isn't on any other streaming platform, but it's currently You-Know-Where. My plan is to binge it as quickly as I can before it possibly gets taken down.

My grandmother shared fond memories of me about FLAMINGO ROAD being her favorite show when it was on. She mentioned some of the actors and characters, and remarked how she was frustrated when it was cancelled. Both of my parents seem to have casual memories of watching the show, but couldn't remember anything specific about it.

I don't know a lot about FLAMINGO ROAD, so I'll be going in with a clean slate mostly. It isn't a very long show to binge, so we'll see how it goes.

Happy viewing!

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. My advice would be to get stuck in while you can, as it’s one of those shows that seems to get taken down regularly, despite the fact that it probably hasn’t been rerun on TV since the 90’s and was never released on DVD (although there are rumours of it being prepped for streaming).

That's great, fingers crossed you get enough time to watch all of it.
Internet Archive is currently not working properly, something about a cyber-attack. I'm glad I've downloaded all the episodes.
I might start it tomorrow, time permitting, but it'll probably be next week.

I was just reading about the show and apparently it was based off of a Joan Crawford movie from 1949.
I found the playlist on YouTube looks like it has everything. But I think it’s missing the pilot. Also I think it’s in German.
I would be interested to see it though.

That 1949 film was based on a 1946 play written by Robert Wilder, which was based on Wilder's own 1942 novel. I've never seen the movie or read the book. But I'd at least like to see the movie. It's on Amazon Prime.

There's a playlist out there in English. You just have to dig for it. Whomever uploaded the English version has split the seasons up into separate playlists.

I watched the pilot TV movie of FLAMINGO ROAD. Overall, I had mixed emotions. One thing that stuck out to me was how cheap and amateurish the show seems. Of course, I know this was 1980 and I seem to remember early DALLAS and KNOTS LANDING having the same look to them.

As for the story setup, it was fine. I think the show suffers a little from "Flamingo Road" being the title since so few of the main characters live there. They should've called it Truro instead. I do like the "homey" feel of the setting, though.

The performances were fine. I think Howard Duff might be my favorite so far.

I'll mosy my way through leisurely, but right now, I don't have any strong desire to continue.

Sorry, Flamingo Road.
