That evening, McCaans said they left for dinner at the Tapas at 8.30pm. They were the first in their group to arrive. The Paynes were the last to arrive, closer to 9pm.
Pondering.... If Christian B was indeed "in the immediate area" with a plan to rob the McCaan apartment and/or abduct a living Madeleine, what sound reason did he have to hang around for so long after the phone call ended -- at least an hour if not much more -- to abduct her? Where was he loitering?
_If Christian B snatched Maddie earlier than 9.06-07pm, then there goes Gerry's claim of seeing his children when he went to check on them. Gerry even spent a penny before leaving.
_If Christian B had hidden in the apartment while Gerry was there, he would have needed to wait until Gerry & Jez finished their conversation before he could emerge down the stairs to the garden gate, using the apartment's apparently unlocked sliding doors to exit.
_If Christian hid, or entered, and left as soon as Gerry and Jez were gone, say 9.15-9.20pm, then why did a woman who'd crossed the road with her husband and child to return to block 6 between 9.15pm and 9.30pm hear someone calling out a name that sounded like Madeleine -- a time when Madeleine was supposed to be asleep or had been abducted. A time long before Kate's official 10pm raising of the alarm and before Matthew Oldfield's check.
_In the PJ's files are statements by several people who were under the impression that the alarm over Maddie being missing had been raised before 10pm, even as early as 9.30pm.
_Matthew claimed to have entered the McCaan apartment at 9.30pm to check on the children. He didn't admit to not finding Maddie, just that he didn't look at her bed, so couldn't state with any certainity that Madeleine was in the apartment. He lingered in the McCaan apartment to look around, even looking into the parent's bedroom; he claims to have been looking at the reading materials the McCaans had brought with them.
Hmm. Sure he wasn't searching for Maddie?
