Whose side are you on -- the woman who grabbed the pontiff's hand and seemed unaffected when he slapped her hand away?, or the holy man whose disgusted reaction to her resulted in minor violence?

I doubt whether she was a fan, more like a tourist looking to get a photo opportunity.

I thought she behaved disgracefully in the way she grabbed his hand and yanked him back towards her. Most decent people wouldn't treat anyone like that let alone an elderly religious leader. If someone did that to a member of my family or a friend, I would totally get in their face and remonstrate angrily with them.

Pope Francis acted in self-defence and his actions were totally justified.

The woman deserved to be slapped. She done nearly yanked his arm out the socket. But why didn't an Arc Angel appear and petrify her on the spot? That's the real question here.

Watched it and was somewhat unaffected. I think the woman reacted on impulse as did the Pope. Both did something slightly wrong, but nothing major. I get no feeling other than two people not thinking before acting, but the result was no biggie.

I'm actually on her side. The woman needed help. He's the Pontiff - if he can't get used to people going a bit crazy over him he should do something else. For all we know she was dying and wanted him to pray with her. I think he was totally out of line.

Oh, if you look at her, she was just fine. She was so inside her own head, she barely seemed to even notice the rebuff.

If he'd smacked her, the Vatican could later claim he was just delivering a sacrament with unusual enthusiasm.
