Is this going to be good or a turkey?

The first episode has just aired here in Ireland. It feels a bit like a wild dream Kat may be having while dozing on a sun lounger in Spain.
Is that good or bad? I read in tv mag there's a death in ep 1. If they have killed off Kat I will go off it.

I really liked it. It's as though, now that Enders itself has become more sober and sensible, all its residual nuttiness has washed up in Redwater.

(That said, a world in which Stacey Slater happily babysits for Lauren Branning still feels quite strange.)

its residual nuttiness has washed up in Redwater.

Though I wonder if the strengths of the show are in its more 'straight' scenes, the more ordinary scenes with the main family - the family gathering for the wake, the returning sister, the matriarch learning she's been left with nothing (Hmm, this sounds like the first episode of another soap) - the nuttiness with Kat and the priest almost seemed like a distraction in the second episode.

I've also just learnt that the show is actually called Kat & Alfie - Redwater in the UK, which probably highlights, along with the crap time slot, what faith the BBC had in it.

It's got elements of Springhill -- the slightly supernatural/religious Sky soap from the 90s -- about it. And it's a bit like watching New DALLAS, in the way things resonate with the characters' pasts on ENDERS, intentionally or otherwise, like Tommy hiding behind a tree at the funeral the way Ronnie did at "his" funeral back in the day.

I know it has bombed in the ratings, but I am really getting into it now. Its nice it is not just a vehicle for Jessie and Shane but a real ensemble piece.

Be warned, there are multiple cliffhangers in the finale. Not sure how they're meant to work in relation to Enders.

Although I can imagine Kat and Alfie, when they eventually do turn up on the Square, vowing to never mention what happened in Ireland ever again.

You were right, so many cliff hangers and if reports are true it is not coming back. :(
