The all-American actor and Oscar winner had a second act as a director and founder of the Sundance Film Festival.

I watch one of his movies like 3 weeks ago, and after I Googled him. I thought he might have passed already, and I wanted to see what other movies he had made. I was a little surprised he was still alive because I thought he was older than he actually was. Don't know why. And now, 3 weeks later, he dies. A bit ironic.

I watched this for the first time earlier this year and thought it was brilliant and fascinating.
Outside of this, I've watched surprisingly few of his films (Captain America: The Winter Soldier - possibly my favourite MCU film - springs to mind) and I can't even explain why I haven't seen them because there are a number of classics that are on my bucket list.
It's the opposite for me. I think of him as eternally the age he was many decades ago.

Both Robert Redford and Paul Newman are suspiciously absent from my watching-films experience.
Looking at their filmographies on IMDB there isn't much that I want to see except for Redford's The Candidate (1972) - which is no longer available on prime not even as a rental.
I've only seen All The President's Men which didn't do much for me, and The Chase (1966) which is a problematic film but still vastly more entertaining than ATP'sM (in my humble opinion, of course).
I think The Horse Whisperer was his last high-profile acting job?

I liked THE CANDIDATE but I need a refresher.
ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN is, to me, an interesting film in its period execution. But, not surprisingly, it's a white-washing of the actual Watergate story (which they still can't tell because, as Deep Throat asserts, "it goes everywhere" and the movie doesn't).
Redford has not yet learned to act by the time THE CHASE rolled around, but it's stupid fun, with a cast like few other films. (Robert Blake wanted the James Fox role, and he should have had it). I wonder if the movie would have been a little better had it not been constrained to the Columbia back lot.
He made ORDINARY PEOPLE (1980). Leos make such good directors.

Robert Redford was a great actor i have seen many movies of him, the movie that always stick with me was the movie "The Way We Were" from 1973 with Barbra Streisand.
He will certainly be missed
