And aren't we supposed to be better than the nations that resort to religious discrimination and persecution?
Why don't we need more thorough vetting of people from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, or any other Muslim country Trump does business in? Sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Fifteen Saudi hijackers attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, but we're not revising the vetting process for them. The state department recently warned Americans against traveling to Turkey do to an increase in anti-American rhetoric, but no ban for them.
If those seven countries let Trump slap his name on a building, I bet he'd lift those travel bans in a second.

There are much bigger issues at hands and that are driving the EO.
Overall immigration reform needs to be implemented, part of which would be to seriously limit on any immigrants from Muslim majority countries based on what is happening in Europe.
I know you don't do this but it is too simplistic and lazy thinking to just spout "racism".. Not to mention irresponsible. .
America should be a bastion of hope and freedom for all, not just the native born........right now the bastion is overdrawn and in debt like we have never seen before, too many Vets on the streets and in need of mental health support, too many young men in prison, especially young black men due to the failing schools and democrat policies.
Do you believe in strong national borders or are you a globalist? Most demos can't make up their minds.. It all depends on who is president..

When it comes to immigration, I believe it's necessary to know who is coming to our country and why. Citizenship also protects immigrants from deportation and unscrupulous employers.
That said, statistics show that the wall is too costly and improbable to build. We need border security, but that doesn't solve the issue of immigrants who stay here on expired visas. Still, I believe in giving illegal immigrants the chance to prove they came here to be productive citizens. If they don't have a criminal history and are able to prove they have a viable means of support, I would give them the opportunity to become legal citizens. Illegal immigrants with a criminal record, particularly one of violence, should be deported. You asked if I believe in strong borders of if I'm a globalist, and I'd say that I support a bit of both.
As for the blanket travel bans, I don't believe targeting countries based on their religion sends the right message. America should always vet people who come here, regardless of what country they come from. On top of that, it looks really shady when Middle Eastern countries that Trump does business with aren't among the banned nations. Particularly Saudi Arabia, considering most of the 9/11 hijackers came from there.
Of course you're right that we need to take care of our own as well. Vets have been sent to fight unnecessary wars by both Republicans and Democrats, and deserve the best housing and healthcare available. I'd argue that it was both Democratic and Republican polices that increased the prison population, and Betsy Devos is sure to undermine public schools. However, I believe we have the means to reform our broken condition AND allow immigrants to live here if we wanted to. Especially if those immigrants become productive, tax paying citizens. You said it best; America should be a bastion of hope and freedom for all.
If only the same could be said about you.
