Shooting incident at Louvre in Paris

A French soldier on guard at the Louvre in Paris has opened fire at a suspected attacker, media reports say.

The soldier is reported to have been attacked with a knife and his assailant seriously injured.

The attacker is said to have been trying to enter the museum. A big security operation is reported to be under way at the Louvre and a nearby shopping centre.

Hope everyone is ok. Was at the Louvre back in October and can imagine how much panic this would cause. Love Paris

The decision by Francois Hollande to keep Paris in lock-down after recent terrorist attacks has proven to be the right thing to do. Without that there may not have been an armed soldier there to take out the assailant and who knows what other tragedy could have unfolded had that decisive action not have occurred.
