Should Mario Nuñez have come back, for season 8?

Instead of introducing all of the Ortegas in the autumn of 1988 should Michael Filerman have brought back Mario Nuñez and maybe his mother. It's not as if he did not know the characters. I think it would've been a good idea, as they were working class like the Ortega family. Had this happened how would Mario have reacted to new Vickie (Dana Sparks)?

I can imagine Mario returning to Tuscany Valley with his wife Pilar and rediscovering his romantic feelings for Vickie, while Pilar grows closer to the grieving Lance. I would have liked to see Mario's mother again as well. She could have been involved with Pilar's father while their children grew apart.

Mario was a good lad. Imho it was sad the Nuñez family were written out so soon, which of course started with father Gus encountering a gas line. Mario had genuine feelings for Vicki unlike sugar daddy Nick. He certainly should have been in the eighth season, instead of Tommy and Gabriel Ortega. I think he would have worked well with Cesar (Pilar's dad or as she called him pop). Aye Alicia Nuñez and Cesar could've got close romantically. In the fantasy 8th season Vicki (Dana) breaks Mario's heart, when she still leaves with Peter to help mentally ill Eric in the Swiss clinic.

Mario and Vicki, they were meant to be together.


Julia is having a glass of red wine, in the kitchen of the Gioberti castle. There is a party happening and she is in the company of Gus Nuñez; (a scene from season 1, 1981 - '82):

Julia takes another taste of the wine.

Gus: "What do you think?"

Julia: "It's interesting! I'm surprised. I had no idea that uncle Jason had a private wine reserve."

Gus: "He did make that much."

Julia: "Hmm. It's a shame."

Julia then looks at the red wine bottle and says: "Tell me about this label? It looks so primitive."

Gus: "He designed it himself. I think he was trying to say something."

Julia laughs: "He certainly didn't want any part of Falcon Crest, did he?"

She continues: "I guess no one was as close to him than you."

Gus: "He would only let me so close. Then he would stare, as if he never seen me. I think I knew he was going to die. I still don't know how it really happened?"

Julia: "He was drunk. He drove his truck, off a cliff."

Gus: "So everyone says!"

Julia looks into his face: "So everyone says!"

She then walks into the living room, leaving Gus glancing at Jason's wine produce.

I loved Mario. He was such a cutie and an asset to the show. I teared up when he moved away.
