My grandmother watched it on Sunday afternoons when it aired on UTV and then my mother watched it when it was stripped daily at lunchtime in the 12:30pm slot on RTE1. My main memories are from the Sam Hagen era and her romance with Davie Sneddon. The outdoor scenes were always magnificent because the Scottish countryside is so beautiful. From what I've read, it had a rocky enough final decade as the show was dropped by a lot of ITV networks and aired less frequently. STV seem to be pretty proactive in repeating it though and it's currently being made available on the STV Player again.
