My grandmother was 13 when it first aired and she’s 73 in May.She watched it avidly throughout the 60s but she recalls everyone remarking that by 1966-68 Corrie was representing British working class life as it was in the 1940s/1950s and not as it was in the mid to late 60s, she stopped watching by 1970ish and started again in the mid 1980s then stopped completely by 2014.Elsie Tanner; oft imitated but never matched, Carla comes close very close.Jenny I can see being the new Rita in years to come, she’s a great character, one of the few characters who can be funny and tragic and daft at the same time</blockquote>
