Here he plays Maurice Flitcroft, an eccentric golf enthusiast whose ambition is to play in the British Open. Somehow he manages to gain entry to the tournament and subsequently plays the worst round ever in the British Open. In doing so he becomes a bit of an icon for people who keep trying and never give up no matter how bad they are at something. The story is told with a lot of humour and affection for the characters it depicts and the film is heart-warming, enjoyable and dare I say it, a bit moving.</blockquote>
