Why is this a CULT forum?

I could be wrong but I don't think "cult" has anything to do with popular mainstream entertainment.
It usually refers to the oddities that are being loved by a certain cult-following for (usually) the most odd reasons.

Maybe it's time that all the Administrators, from the offices in the UK to the office in Florida, are going to meet in Geneva and discuss the paradoxical nature of this forum.

What kind of TV series could be considered a cult hit - although "cult" and "hit" seems like a contradiction.
Maybe AMERICAN GOTHIC (1995) ?
