they already did this and it wasn't bad but it flopped, i'd say 20 years ago they had i think Meredith Monroe who played Andy on Dawson's Creek & she was also Hotch's Wife on Criminal Minds she played Laura and it wasn't bad either actually but it flopped. ABC did it i believe

I believe you're thinking of the 2 TV films they made which were based on the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder which focused on the real-life story of Laura Ingalls Wilder which was broadcast about 20 years ago or the 6 part mini series which was a faithful adaptation of the books and was broadcast about 15 years ago. There is currently yet another adaptation in the works which will be a full blown series and this is yet to be made.

To be honest, I'd rather see a mini TV-series that would focus on Laura and Almanzo some 40 years later. I mean since the show is based on actual people that were married for 60 + years it's not too late to do some sort of follow up on their story. Then the story would be set in the 1920s instead. I think that would be more interesting.

That era would be a good start. The world is still coming to grips from The Great War. America is leaving the wild wild west as cities begin to explode in growth. On the horizon though are dark days...The Great Depression.
An interesting era but awfully expensive to produce I'd imagine.

Anything they can do to eras the vile stench of Landon's series is fine with me. Mrs. Ingalls Wilder's books deserved better.

I've never read the books or seen the TV series, but your hope seems unlikely to be fulfilled. Laura Ingalls Wilder's works are already on the outs for not, somehow, having 2021 woke sensitivities in books written in the early 20th century about life in the late 19th century. I find myself amused pondering what kind of anachronistic, revisionist, multicultural version of 1870s prairie life is going to make it onscreen.

Yes, it'll make Dr. Quinn look like a documentary. Hollywood has demonstrated for decades that the need to "revise" history far outweighs the need to be true to life, especially since they don't have respect for the source material anyway. I'm getting queasy already.

I was a big fan of the show so I’m definitely intrigued by a reboot. I just hope there’s still enough interest for it out there to succeed.

I used to race home from school and make sure i got the early train to watch LHOTP in the early years.
I never would admit to liking it tho - although i cried at most episodes and my mum knew how to annoy me by saying Michael Langdon looked like Pat D
I taped one of the episodes on TV onto cassette (didnt have VCR) and it was the one when Patricia Neal dies and there was this quote
Remember me with songs and laughter for thats the way I will remember you all
But if you can only remember me with tears, then dont remember me at all
(It was something like that!!)
I loved the Olesons compard to the goody two shoes Ingalls with insipid mother Carolyn and the Greenbush twins as Carrie and at school we always thought they didnt look the full shilling! A bit GLAIKIT! (good old Scots word there) I kinda gave up on it as i got to be older and it wasnt cool, also when Mary went blind, Laura got married to a dull husband, I didnt run for the train anymore!
I never invested emotionally in LHOTP though - unlike Dallas - so if they screw it up it wont matter - unlike Dallas where they did, and boy did that hurt!!

At one point, Michael Landon's series was put up against a show on CBS called Sons and Daughters.
Although that show was about young people in Fifties California and not the Aussie twin cities soap.
One of the stars was Glynnis O'Connor, later known for her role in Ode To Billy Joe alongside Robby Benson. (The film was directed by Max Baer Jr, who is the only surviving member of the original Beverly Hillbillies cast)
Sons and Daughters never stood a chance against Little House and was off the air quickly, replaced by a variety show featuring Tony Orlando and Dawn.

Miss Beadle discovers that Almanzo's precious sister is a slut and a whore, and she threatens Almanzo to expose her wicked ways unless he agrees to have a sexual relationship with her (Beadle).
Queen Bitch Nellie played by Emma Bell discovers this dirty secret and reveals all during the christening of Laura and Almanzo's child, but it all backfires when during the following argument Laura accidentally reveals that she was raped by Nels Oleson played by Mitch Pileggi.
Pa Ingalls attacks Nels and Harriet blames Caroline for everything.
One of the stupid Ingalls twins falls into a pit and accidentally triggers a huge gusher. Harriet and her son Willie (the cool and smart hero in this new version) claim that the land belongs to them, and not Pa Ingalls played by Patrick Duffy.
Yes I think this could work.
