Rock n Roll HOF isn't Rock n Roll Anymore

The RR HOF has been trending downward for some time, with inductees who are not Rock and/or lesser artists,
with some great performers being overlooked

This year:
Mary J. Blige, - not RR
Mariah Carey not RR, no matter how many top songs.
Cher not RR, but more credentials than some of these acts
Dave Matthews Band OK band, not great
Eric B. & Rakim, - WHO?
Foreigner - should have been in long ago
Peter Frampton - Yes, definitely
Jane’s Addiction, OK band, not great
Kool & the Gang - disco is not RR
Lenny Kravitz - maybe, but I never liked their version of "American Woman"
Oasis - maybe, a near miss IMHO
Sinéad O’Connor- Joking right?
, Ozzy Osbourne, - definitely
Sade - not RR, not many memorable songs
A Tribe Called Quest- not RR

Granted, some of these are my personal opinion, but the bar should be relatively high,
and disco, rap, hip-hop and mainstream easy listening are not RR
People can like these acts but they are not Rock artists

By this standard, Barbara Streisand, Barry Manilow, Michael Bolton should be in
Is that the RR HOF that people want?

Its like most things these days - true dumbing down

Mariah Carey not RR, no matter how many top songs.

Id rather stick my head in an oven than listening to her warbling

I would let Cher in and agree re Frampton and Foreigner

But agree re the rest and some Ive never heard off at all.

Rock and Roll is ..............................Rock and Roll!! Not disco, country, pop et al

Is that the RR HOF that people want?

I think just about every HOF in general has changed its parameters now as to how they induct their stars. The key word now is “fame,” and HOF’s nowadays are more of a celebration of the entity they represent than they are putting in what we may feel are the most deserving people.

All these soft rock non deserving acts that are in - it is appalling
Gordon Lightfoot is not in and he had hit records, including the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, one of the best of all-time
and the Carpenters are maybe the best soft rock act ever
