Given that it was a Grundy show, and Neighbours was at the height of its popularity in the UK at the time, I understand ITV going all out to secure the rights to the series (they apparently paid £600k for it) in the hope of having a Neighbours style hit. However, them buying the rights coincided with the show being cancelled in Australia, so before it even went to air on ITV, they knew they were going to get less than a year out of it. Yet, they went to the effort of networking it and displacing shows like ACP to accommodate it. Maybe they were hoping to get a year of decent ratings out of it or maybe they felt they had to something with it, given the amount of money they spent on buying it.</blockquote>
