[QUOTE="Laurie!, post: 443116, member: 2210"] The billionaires like to keep the lowly middle class thinking they need their...what do you call it?...401K. ..RRSPs here. However, the stock market was never actually meant for the middle class. That was a rouse. You're way better off to only do whatever your employer adds (no cost to you) and set aside as much as possible in your own tax free savings account or here we have GICs that are guaranteed not to fall below invested value. Chips, store cookies, candy, sugar cereals, processed pre-made meals are all way more expensive than fresh produce, pasta, rice, etc. People just go the easy, addictive route instead....right where 'they' want you. I was using the alcohol as one example. Here, it's way more. The majority of people are buying Canadian or Mexican, European, etc. Anything but American and American businesses are feeling it. Unfortunately, tourist areas just across the border are hurting badly too..no fault of their own except being Trump voters. I'm just forever an optimist and refuse to be a defeatist. Change is possible with power to the consumer. It also helps if the tax breaks aren't given to the wealthy....proven to never create more jobs for the middle class but Republicans insist otherwise.
