Funny you mention this, because I've been re-reading some Brookie-related stuff, and The Official Companion kind of covers this angle: It's certainly something that sets this apart, and yet another fascinating layer to scenes between the Grants. I'll be keeping an eye out to try and spot this. That's lovely that you have a specific memory attached to that scene. One scene I didn't comment on which takes place after this had Marie going to Sheila in bits when the twins briefly went missing, and Sheila was there for her with a cup of tea and a compassionate ear. It felt like a bit of a breakthrough, and I found myself almost tearful because of what the scene meant to their relationship. But there was still that level of pride there for both of them. It ended with one of them saying the other's name as though about to apologise or thank (I think it was Marie to Sheila, but couldn't swear to it because I knew they were both feeling almost the same thing) but it just kind of hung there as this silent, unfinished acknowledgement. And a couple of episodes later, loyal George is back to being terrified that Marie will see him talking to Sheila, which is also very playground-like. Oh yes. Absolutely. Oh my! Such a brilliant observation. I'm glad they're finding their way here. Slowing down my viewing rate this week has highlighted this. It feels like weeks since I've seen Karen, and it's possibly a couple of months' worth as aired. Oh yes. This encapsulates exactly what I was trying to say about her, but far more eloquently and descriptively.
