Some great answers so far @Caproni. I too am a Christian so I was very interested to read how you found your faith. I have a few more questions, if I may:
  1. What do you think has been the best thing that has come out of living though the covid pandemic, either to you personally or to society as a whole?
  2. What has been the best and the worst job that you've had?
  3. What would you do if had enough money to not need a job?
  4. What do you miss about your life 10 years ago?
  5. What do you like but are usually embarrassed to admit?
It is always nice to be a fellow Christian on these forums. I appreciate your questions and I enjoy giving you the answers. The ones you are asking this time are a little tougher, so I am going to do my best to answer them.

1. The best thing that has come out of the Covid-19 pandemic is I honestly feel like I have drawn closer to the Lord. I have been able to spend more time in prayer, meditation, and naturally I have needed Jesus more this past year than ever before.

2. I've had four jobs in my life. The job I am at currently is my favorite by far; I love the job itself, my coworkers, the atmosphere. It's all good. The two jobs I had before were more tedious; hostile working environments, hateful coworkers, and low pay. You got treated like you were on the very, very bottom of the totem pole, because.... ummmm.... you were.

3. Well, I would enjoy sitting at home, but I would do my best at studying more of my Bible and helping out more at my church. I would hope I'd be a bigger help to my pastors and community. And naturally I would devote more time to my wife and my interests in Old Hollywood filmdom.

4. Nothing. I was a miserable soul back then. I have Jesus now, and I'm not looking back.

5. This is the toughest one of this batch. I'd probably say that I am usually embarrassed to admit that I like movies that could be called "chick flicks". Being a man, it does get giggles and stuff, but I enjoy movies like STEEL MAGNOLIAS, BEACHES, and FRIED GREEN TOMATOES.

Good questions!

This is a great answer, I wish I could say the same. Although I don't think the pandemic has lead me to feeling closer to God, I do think I wouldn't have been able to get through the various lockdowns, isolation and loneliness without my faith. It's great that you have been able to take something so positive from this period.

There's nothing wrong with a good chick flick/romcom although of the 3 you mentioned the only one I had any desire to watch a second time was Fried Green Tomatoes. However, whenever Legally Blonde is on TV, I will watch it.

Thanks for your answers.

There is always room for improvement in my walk with Christ. If ever I reach the point I feel like I've went far enough, then that is when I will start backsliding. I want to go forward, and sometimes I need a push to do just that. The Covid-19 pandemic had my house and church on lock down. We went without a service for close to three months. It was dreadful, so I had to cling to Jesus to get me through all of that. He delivered as usual.

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES is a movie I remember watching a lot with my mother as a kid. We watched those types of movies a lot together. It was one of the ways we bonded. We watched STEEL MAGNOLIAS and BEACHES together, and I remember us watching SELENA and other movies a lot too.

As for LEGALLY BLONDE, I actually really like that movie, even if I don't watch it all the time. Even though I find it funny and I think Reese Witherspoon is cute, I'd still prefer to watch her in SWEET HOME ALABAMA or WALK THE LINE.

I can relate to what you both are saying about how your faith has helped you get through difficult situations. I have definitely experienced that too. I am a Christian too, I don't go to church as often as I should anymore. But I still have my faith. :)

Now to something less serious, I read that you didn't think much of Elizabeth Taylor's post Burton performances and since she is one of my most favorite actresses I can't help but wonder which of her later movies have you watched?

There are some stinkers, but there's also some really good movies and most of the time her performance really moves me.

Hi Caproni,

I don't think I've posted with you before, so this is a great opportunity to do so :)

Its interesting to read about how much you enjoy classic films and I wondered, do you think any contemporary actors/actresses have the ability to eventually become as iconic as Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford etc.?

Do you enjoy seeing live theatre shows?

Also, what type of music do you enjoy, do you have any favourite singers bands?

Thanks.

Do not be discouraged. There's no time like the present to get serious with the Lord.

I just think a lot of their movies together get morphed into "Liz and Dick" movies and they seem to be phoning in their performances sometimes. Not always, but sometimes.

I don't think I've ever spoken to you, either, but there's a first time for everything.

I honestly do not think anyone will go down as iconic as those from Old Hollywood. The only ones that might have a running chance would be the likes of Meryl Streep, Kathy Bates, Tom Hanks, and people of that stature and talent.

I have never seen a theatre show live. It is definitely on my bucket list though.

I am quite a music fan, but primarily Gospel and Contemporary Christian.

A Little Night Music (1977), whoever told her she could sing should be sacked.

Actually I love "A Little Night Music" (1977) so that wasn't the movie I was referring to when I said she'd done some stinkers! :lolo:

Okay I misunderstood you then since I thought you were referring to the movies she had made after Burton not the ones she had made together with him. I think my least favorite movie that they made together is "Under Milkwood" (1971). I know it's based on a Welsh play or book that is highly regarded in Wales but I just found that movie really boring and Elizabeth was only in it like five minutes.

Some final questions.

1. If you could invite 8 classic movie stars to dinner, who would you chose?
2. What do you work with?
3. Who is your favorite character in Knots Landing?
4. If you could have a super power what would that be?
5. Do you have any pets?

That's all! :)
