She picked up an album and sat down in the sofa before she started flicking through the pages. The album were full of old family photos from the time when Cliff and Afton had been married and Pamela Rebecca had been growing up. The first album started with the wedding. Cliff and Afton had looked so happy and in love in those photos and eight year old Pamela Rebecca was absolutely adorable in her pink bride’s maid’s dress. Pam smiled at the picture perfect family that was looking back at her. She was glad that Cliff had learnt his lesson at last and become a family man. She had never seen her brother look that happy or content before. But sadly it was a chapter of his life that she knew nothing about as she hadn’t been a part of it. Sure she knew Afton since before but it still pained her that she’d missed out on this time in her brother’s life when she should have been a part of it. </p><p></p><p> Looking at a photo of Cliff’s face, Pam gently traced the lines of it and sobbed, “Oh Cliff why did you have to die?”</p><p></p><p> The tears ran down Pam’s cheeks when she thought of all the time she’d missed with her brother. She kept looking through the photos in the album until she reached the end. Then she picked up another album and on the first page in it she found a photo of a baby boy. Then on the next page there was a family photo of Cliff, Afton and Pamela Rebecca together with the same boy. <em>Cliff had a son?</em> Pam frowned as she wondered why Cliff or Afton never had mentioned their son to her. Now her curiosity was piqued, but before she had had the chance to turn the page and look through the rest of the baby album, the sound of the doorbell interrupted her.</p><p></p><p> The sound startled her and made her drop the album. She didn’t know why but she felt like she was poking around in something that she shouldn’t be looking at. For a moment she wondered if that could be Afton now and if she was about to be found out. But then she dismissed the idea since Afton had a key and wouldn’t be ringing on the doorbell. <em>I wonder who it is?</em> Pam bit her lip nervously, as she waited for her maid to get the door for her. It was only on the second ring that she realized that she was in Cliff’s old house and she didn’t have a maid working for her here, so if she wanted to find out who was at the door she had to get it herself. Pam then hurried over to get the door. Once she’d opened it her face paled, as she hadn’t expected it to be her son. “Christopher?”</p><p></p><p> “Hi mom,” he replied, “can we talk?”</p><p></p><p> “Sure,” Pam stepped aside, letting Christopher into the house. “So can I get you anything? "It’s been years since I last visited uncle Cliff here and it feels sort of funny to be back now, but yeah I can find i."</p><p></p><p> “Good,” Pam said, “This will only take a minute,” Pam said before she disappeared into the kitchen and Christopher made his way into the living room where he found the photo albums that Pam has been looking through just a moment ago. He sighed heavily before he picked up the one on the floor. Seeing the photo of his baby cousin made his heart ache as it reminded him of the babies that Pamela Rebecca and he had lost. He then closed the album and put it back on the table. He could have looked through it to make the time pass quicker but he wasn’t up to looking at old photos from his former wife’s childhood. Some might think that it was strange that he had married his own cousin without even recognizing her. But he and Pamela Rebecca had never been close growing up so he had only seen her sporadically and due to their age difference they hadn’t really played much together either. Christopher was so lost in his thoughts of his former wife that he barely noticed when his mother returned with the coffee. “Okay so here’s the coffee,” Pam said as she put down the trey on the table and sat down next to Christopher on the sofa.</p><p></p><p> Christopher looked at the chocolate chip cookies that his mother had brought with the coffee and raised an eyebrow since he hadn’t expected her to remember that those were his favorite kind. “You brought cookies?”</p><p></p><p> “Yeah, I hope you still likes chocolate chip,” Pam said. “When you were little you couldn’t get enough of them.”</p><p></p><p> “I do but...”</p><p></p><p> “Here let me pour you some coffee,” Pam said and as she picked up the coffee pot he couldn’t help but notice that her hands were shaking.</p><p></p><p> “It’s okay, I can do it,” Christopher hurried to take the pot from her before she spilled the coffee. He then poured them a cup of coffee each and it got uncomfortably silent for a moment before Pam said.</p><p></p><p> “I’m surprised that you’re here...”</p><p></p><p> “Pamela told me where I could find you,” he explained.</p><p></p><p> “That’s not what I meant,” Pam said, as she looked down.</p><p></p><p> “Oh?”</p><p></p><p> “Yesterday at the funeral you called me a bitch. So I kind of got the impression that you wanted nothing to do with me.”</p><p></p><p> “I’m sorry,” Christopher apologized. “I was just so shocked to see you. Do you have any idea of how many times I’ve been imagining that moment?”</p><p></p><p> “So you wanted me to come back then?”</p><p></p><p> “Yes, at first I wished for nothing more,” Christopher admitted. “Then when I grew older I got used to that you were gone. But it still hurt when I found out that you were dead.”</p><p></p><p> “Cliff told you I was dead?” </p><p></p><p> “No it was some woman in Zürich, she and her husband had been withdrawing money from your bank account so I went there last year to...”</p><p></p><p> “You mean to tell me that some woman has been embezzling my money?”</p><p></p><p> “Well yeah, they told me Cliff had paid them to keep your death a secret so he could control your shares of Barnes Global,” Christopher informed her. “The woman gave me a letter you had written to me a few days before you died from pancreatic cancer.”</p><p></p><p> “A letter?” Pam sighed. “I guess then they must have been in on it with Katherine somehow.”</p><p></p><p> “In on what?” Christopher looked questioningly at his mother. “What does your sister have to do with anything?”</p><p></p><p> “She kidnapped me from the hospital,” Pam revealed. “I never wanted to leave you or your father or Cliff.”</p><p></p><p> “For real?” Christopher gave his mother a cynical look, as he already doubted the truth in her story.</p><p></p><p> “Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but that’s what really happened.”</p><p></p><p> “But how could Katherine kidnap you right under dad’s nose?” Christopher asked. “Why didn’t he try and find you?”</p><p></p><p> “Because Katherine wrote him a letter telling him not to look for me if he loved me,” Pam revealed.</p><p></p><p> “And he listened to her?”</p><p></p><p> “No he thought that I had written the letter,” Pam sighed. “Katherine knew me quite well so she could forge something and make it sound like I had written it.”</p><p></p><p> Christopher looked astonished at his mother, “So dad divorced you over some stupid letter?”</p><p></p><p> “Yes and if you ask him he’ll tell you that it’s not the first time that has happened either since Katherine also read him a letter she had written and said it was mine the first time we got divorced.”</p><p></p><p> “But that’s unbelievable,” Christopher snorted. “If you’ve been through all that before shouldn’t dad have gotten suspicious when he got yet another letter?”</p><p></p><p> “You would think that, but apparently not, since he gave up on me,” Pam sighed. “The first year I was just waiting for Bobby or Cliff to find me. But when Cliff finally did Katherine hired an actress to impersonate me. So Cliff met an imposter and couldn’t even tell a difference. I don’t think your dad would have been conned by that. But since he didn’t come with Cliff to see me, Katherine could get away with it.”</p><p></p><p> “You’re unbelievable, you’re actually trying to get me to blame my father for your disappearance?”</p><p></p><p> “No,” Pam shook her head. “I don’t want you to blame Bobby. I am sure he was hurt by my disappearance and that’s what Katherine was counting on. She had always wanted to break us up and unfortunately my accident made me vulnerable and that’s when she made her move. She never would have succeeded if I hadn’t been in that car crash.”</p><p></p><p> “You think she staged it?”</p><p></p><p> “No,” Pam shook her head. “I was talking on the phone when I was driving, otherwise I would have seen the truck pull out in front of me. So I was just as much to blame for what happened.”</p><p></p><p> “Okay,” Christopher nodded. “Still there’s something I don’t get. If Katherine <em>really </em>kidnapped you, then <em>why</em> didn’t you come back to us after she died?”</p><p></p><p> “Because I lost my memory in the accident,” Pam sighed heavily. “I’ve had amnesia for the past 25 years.”</p><p></p><p> “You’ve got to be kidding me,” Christopher said smugly, as he stood up and held out his hands. “Out of all the lame excuses you could have come up with, that’s the best you could do?”</p><p></p><p> “I’m sorry but it’s true,” Pam said. “I mean you can ask Josephine if you don’t believe me. Hell you can even ask John Ross as he was the one who brought me out of it.”</p><p></p><p> “John Ross did?”</p><p></p><p> “Yeah, when he came to see me last fall it was like someone had opened a flood gate to my old life and all the memories came flooding back to me. I guess it was the shock of hearing that Josephine wasn’t my daughter that did it. To hear that I had in fact been raising JR and Katherine’s daughter as my own for all these years was just such a shock to me.”</p><p></p><p> Christopher sighed heavily, since somehow he could believe that would be upsetting to find out, so he sat back down again, “Alright I am listening.”</p><p></p><p> “Good so what do you want to know?”</p><p></p><p> “Well you can start with telling me about the accident that killed Katherine,” Christopher said.</p><p></p><p> “Alright,” Pam nodded. “It was in the fall of 1990. We were living in Abi Dhabi when Katherine insisted we’d go sailing out to an island in the Persian gulf. It was a clear blue sky when we left but before we reached the island a storm hit us and Katherine was washed overboard. I had just thrown her a life raft and was about to pull her in when the mast of the sailboat hit me in the head. I was knocked unconscious and when I woke up 26 hours later at a hospital I had no memory of who I was or what had happened. They told me that I had had a sailing accident and that my daughter and I were lucky to be alive.”</p><p></p><p> “Your daughter?”</p><p></p><p> “Yes apparently Josephine had told them that I was her mommy,” Pam said.</p><p></p><p> “But why would she do that?” Christopher asked. “I mean if she was 5 she should have known who her real mother was.”</p><p></p><p> “I think she knew but she was scared that they would take her away from me if she’d told them the truth. So she lied and said that I was her mom instead of the dead woman.”</p><p></p><p> “So Katherine drowned?”</p><p></p><p> “Yeah they never found her body. But she must have,” Pam said. “So I’ve been raising Josephine as my own ever since and with time she’s forgotten I wasn’t her real mom.”</p><p></p><p> “Really?”</p><p></p><p> “Yeah I came into her life when she was 2 so I’ve been there for her as long as she can remember so when John Ross found us last year it was a shock for her too,” Pam said.</p><p></p><p> “I see,” Christopher nodded. “So you’ve lived in Abi Dhabi all these years?”</p><p></p><p> “Yeah,” Pam nodded. “After the accident I assumed the identity of Pamela Bellini. Josephine remembered that my first name was Pam. But she couldn’t remember a surname. So I made one up. I then got us an apartment and to pay for that I got a job working in a foreign department store. Then one day I met a man who asked me out for dinner. His name was Leone Greco and he was an Italian working abroad. We were married within a year and I quit the job at the department store. We tried to have kids but we couldn’t. But he adopted Josephine so she became our daughter. We had a good marriage and were happy together until five years ago when he was diagnosed with cancer. We tried everything we could to fight it. But it had spread too much. So he died within a year. He was only 55.” </p><p></p><p> Seeing the tears run down his mother’s cheeks Christopher felt bad for her, so he took her hand saying, “I’m sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks.”</p><p></p><p> “Thank you,” Pam said, looking up at him with a small smile on her lips. But his next words wiped the smile right off her face. </p><p></p><p> “Dad had it too, you know?”</p><p></p><p> “What?” Pam looked at Christopher with worry in her eyes. “Is he...?”</p><p></p><p> “No,” Christopher hurried to reassure her. “He had a surgery about three years ago. They got it all so he’s healthy now.”</p><p></p><p> “Good,” Pam said, looking relieved.</p><p></p><p> “And you still care about him,” Christopher realized.</p><p></p><p> “Of course,” Pam said a bit too quickly before she went on elaborating. “He was my husband for 8 years and he is your father. As far as I can see he’s done a good job raising you.”</p><p></p><p> “Yeah,” Christopher agreed.</p><p></p><p> “I wish I could have helped more,” Pam said as the tears spilled over in her eyes. “I’m sorry for abandoning you when you were a little boy. I never wanted to leave you.”</p><p></p><p> “I know,” Christopher nodded, as he squeezed his mother’s hands. “But you’re here now.”</p><p></p><p> “I am and I’d like for us to start over,” Pam said. “I know it’s late. You’re an adult now and we can never get those years back. So I don’t blame you if you resent me for leaving...”</p><p></p><p> Watching his mother struggle to find the right words Christopher had to fight the lump in his throat as the tears welled up in his eyes as well, “If what you’re telling me is true then none of this was your fault...”</p><p></p><p> “You don’t believe me?”</p><p></p><p> “I want to,” Christopher said in a small voice, “But it’s hard. I was really hurt when you left me. I thought it was because I was adopted...”</p><p></p><p> “Oh Christopher I hope you know that’s not true,” Pam said. “I mean I couldn’t have loved you any more if you had been my own flesh and blood.”</p><p></p><p> “Really?”</p><p></p><p> “Really,” Pam said. “You and Josephine are my children even though I haven’t given birth to either one of you.”</p><p></p><p> “I see,” Christopher nodded. “Still you raised Josephine, you abandoned me when I was 6 years old...”</p><p></p><p> “I’ve explained all that. So I was hoping you’d forgive me.”</p><p></p><p> “It’s not so easy to forgive something like that,” Christopher sighed. “I mean do you know what it’s like to grow up without a mother?”</p><p></p><p> “I do,” Pam sobbed.</p><p></p><p> Christopher made a face as he remembered that she actually did know what that was like, “Right Rebecca left you too...”</p><p></p><p> “Yeah when I was even younger than you were,” Pam said.</p><p></p><p> “So you do know...”</p><p></p><p> “Yeah, God knows I didn’t understand why my mom abandoned me and Cliff but I forgave her and I am glad that I did. So I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me too...”</p><p></p><p> “I guess I have to,” Christopher said, with the tears running down his cheeks. “For so many years I’ve missed you and prayed for you to come back. So now when you’re here it would be stupid to hold on to my anger. So yes I’ll forgive you mom since I want us to start over too,” Christopher sobbed as he let his mother put her arms around him and pull him into a comforting hug. For so many years he’d longed to have his mother back and now he finally did. It was like a wound in him that had been open for so long had finally closed. He had his mother back in his life at long last and he was not going to let her leave again.</p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p>To Be Continued...</p></blockquote><p></p>
Thank you for the feedback @stevew I enjoy reading your comments. :) First off, I agree with you that JR's masterpiece wasn't satisfying at all. I didn't like how it put Cliff in jail and nothing else.:( I think they had written themselves into a corner since JR was supposed to have gotten things back by the end of season two. But Larry died unexpectedly before they could finish filming the season so it left CC and her team in a bad situation where they had to make a hen out of a feather. Yes John Ross and Pamela Rebecca are both very wealthy in their own right. So wealthy that they could easily buy a new house and decorate it any way they want. They don't have to live at Southfork. But they do. See it's not about money. It's about feeling entitled. They think they are entitled to Southfork and Ewing Global because that's what they have been promised since childhood. As for what is and what isn't green energy. I think solar power is green energy. But I don't believe that having bikes and cars run on lithium batteries is a sustainable solution at all. Firstly it exploits the land where the resources are. In this case the salt lake in Bolivia. I have visited that place and it is amazing. It breaks my heart to think that it could all be exploited. :eyes: Moreover batteries can be charged with dirty energy from nuclear power plants. That doesn't make it green energy. Batteries also creates waste that we don't quite know how to get rid off. So yes cars that are run on batteries might give less air pollution. But it's not really green energy either when all things are factored in. This is just IMHO of course. Yes John Ross and Pamela really needed to communicate to be able to solve their marital problems. So yes it's good that it's all out on the table. Now they can move forward together. I agree with you that they are definitely much better together than they are apart. :l9: I have no clue what deal Pamela and John Ross actually made with Nasser.:confuse: I really enjoyed the actor who played him when he was on Bones. But Nasser is not a character that will appear in my Dallas story. Pamela's indifelity with him is only referred to in it. But that's all. No I don't think Bobby would move out of Southfork anymore than JR would have. Southfork is his home and he's not leaving it. He is sharing it with John Ross because that is what his mother stipulated in the codec to her will. But he won't move out of his home. So the only thing that is threatening their relationship right now is the paternity of the baby. That has not been resolved yet. Cally's child won't be a part of this story. I think it was a mistake not to introduce him at JR's funeral in season two. Lucas on the other hand was supposed to have been introduced in season four so yes he will be a part of this story! :) Anyway on to the next part and it's time for Christopher to finally get some answers from his mother... * Pam walked into the living room where she found the old photo albums that Afton had left on the coffee table last night. So I kind of got the impression that you wanted nothing to do with me.” “I’m sorry,” Christopher apologized. “I was just so shocked to see you. Do you have any idea of how many times I’ve been imagining that moment?” “So you wanted me to come back then?” “Yes, at first I wished for nothing more,” Christopher admitted. “Then when I grew older I got used to that you were gone. But it still hurt when I found out that you were dead.” “Cliff told you I was dead?” “No it was some woman in Zürich, she and her husband had been withdrawing money from your bank account so I went there last year to...” “You mean to tell me that some woman has been embezzling my money?” “Well yeah, they told me Cliff had paid them to keep your death a secret so he could control your shares of Barnes Global,” Christopher informed her. “The woman gave me a letter you had written to me a few days before you died from pancreatic cancer.” “A letter?” Pam sighed. “I guess then they must have been in on it with Katherine somehow.” “In on what?” Christopher looked questioningly at his mother. “What does your sister have to do with anything?” “She kidnapped me from the hospital,” Pam revealed. “I never wanted to leave you or your father or Cliff.” “For real?” Christopher gave his mother a cynical look, as he already doubted the truth in her story. “Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but that’s what really happened.” “But how could Katherine kidnap you right under dad’s nose?” Christopher asked. “Why didn’t he try and find you?” “Because Katherine wrote him a letter telling him not to look for me if he loved me,” Pam revealed. “And he listened to her?” “No he thought that I had written the letter,” Pam sighed. “Katherine knew me quite well so she could forge something and make it sound like I had written it.” Christopher looked astonished at his mother, “So dad divorced you over some stupid letter?” “Yes and if you ask him he’ll tell you that it’s not the first time that has happened either since Katherine also read him a letter she had written and said it was mine the first time we got divorced.” “But that’s unbelievable,” Christopher snorted. “If you’ve been through all that before shouldn’t dad have gotten suspicious when he got yet another letter?” “You would think that, but apparently not, since he gave up on me,” Pam sighed. “The first year I was just waiting for Bobby or Cliff to find me. But when Cliff finally did Katherine hired an actress to impersonate me. So Cliff met an imposter and couldn’t even tell a difference. I don’t think your dad would have been conned by that. But since he didn’t come with Cliff to see me, Katherine could get away with it.” “You’re unbelievable, you’re actually trying to get me to blame my father for your disappearance?” “No,” Pam shook her head. “I don’t want you to blame Bobby. I am sure he was hurt by my disappearance and that’s what Katherine was counting on. She had always wanted to break us up and unfortunately my accident made me vulnerable and that’s when she made her move. She never would have succeeded if I hadn’t been in that car crash.” “You think she staged it?” “No,” Pam shook her head. “I was talking on the phone when I was driving, otherwise I would have seen the truck pull out in front of me. So I was just as much to blame for what happened.” “Okay,” Christopher nodded. “Still there’s something I don’t get. If Katherine really kidnapped you, then why didn’t you come back to us after she died?” “Because I lost my memory in the accident,” Pam sighed heavily. “I’ve had amnesia for the past 25 years.” “You’ve got to be kidding me,” Christopher said smugly, as he stood up and held out his hands. “Out of all the lame excuses you could have come up with, that’s the best you could do?” “I’m sorry but it’s true,” Pam said. “I mean you can ask Josephine if you don’t believe me. Hell you can even ask John Ross as he was the one who brought me out of it.” “John Ross did?” “Yeah, when he came to see me last fall it was like someone had opened a flood gate to my old life and all the memories came flooding back to me. I guess it was the shock of hearing that Josephine wasn’t my daughter that did it. To hear that I had in fact been raising JR and Katherine’s daughter as my own for all these years was just such a shock to me.” Christopher sighed heavily, since somehow he could believe that would be upsetting to find out, so he sat back down again, “Alright I am listening.” “Good so what do you want to know?” “Well you can start with telling me about the accident that killed Katherine,” Christopher said. “Alright,” Pam nodded. They told me that I had had a sailing accident and that my daughter and I were lucky to be alive.” “Your daughter?” “Yes apparently Josephine had told them that I was her mommy,” Pam said. “But why would she do that?” Christopher asked. “I mean if she was 5 she should have known who her real mother was.” “I think she knew but she was scared that they would take her away from me if she’d told them the truth. So she lied and said that I was her mom instead of the dead woman.” “So Katherine drowned?” “Yeah they never found her body. But she must have,” Pam said. “So I’ve been raising Josephine as my own ever since and with time she’s forgotten I wasn’t her real mom.” “Really?” “Yeah I came into her life when she was 2 so I’ve been there for her as long as she can remember so when John Ross found us last year it was a shock for her too,” Pam said. “I see,” Christopher nodded. “So you’ve lived in Abi Dhabi all these years?” “Yeah,” Pam nodded. He was only 55.” Seeing the tears run down his mother’s cheeks Christopher felt bad for her, so he took her hand saying, “I’m sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks.” “Thank you,” Pam said, looking up at him with a small smile on her lips. But his next words wiped the smile right off her face. “Dad had it too, you know?” “What?” Pam looked at Christopher with worry in her eyes. “Is he...?” “No,” Christopher hurried to reassure her. “He had a surgery about three years ago. They got it all so he’s healthy now.” “Good,” Pam said, looking relieved. “And you still care about him,” Christopher realized. “Of course,” Pam said a bit too quickly before she went on elaborating. “He was my husband for 8 years and he is your father. As far as I can see he’s done a good job raising you.” “Yeah,” Christopher agreed. “I wish I could have helped more,” Pam said as the tears spilled over in her eyes. “I’m sorry for abandoning you when you were a little boy. I never wanted to leave you.” “I know,” Christopher nodded, as he squeezed his mother’s hands. “But you’re here now.” “I am and I’d like for us to start over,” Pam said. “I know it’s late. You’re an adult now and we can never get those years back. So I don’t blame you if you resent me for leaving...” Watching his mother struggle to find the right words Christopher had to fight the lump in his throat as the tears welled up in his eyes as well, “If what you’re telling me is true then none of this was your fault...” “You don’t believe me?” “I want to,” Christopher said in a small voice, “But it’s hard. I was really hurt when you left me. I thought it was because I was adopted...” “Oh Christopher I hope you know that’s not true,” Pam said. “I mean I couldn’t have loved you any more if you had been my own flesh and blood.” “Really?” “Really,” Pam said. “You and Josephine are my children even though I haven’t given birth to either one of you.” “I see,” Christopher nodded. “Still you raised Josephine, you abandoned me when I was 6 years old...” “I’ve explained all that. So I was hoping you’d forgive me.” “It’s not so easy to forgive something like that,” Christopher sighed. “I mean do you know what it’s like to grow up without a mother?” “I do,” Pam sobbed. Christopher made a face as he remembered that she actually did know what that was like, “Right Rebecca left you too...” “Yeah when I was even younger than you were,” Pam said. “So you do know...” “Yeah, God knows I didn’t understand why my mom abandoned me and Cliff but I forgave her and I am glad that I did. So I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me too...” “I guess I have to,” Christopher said, with the tears running down his cheeks. He had his mother back in his life at long last and he was not going to let her leave again. To Be Continued...
