Iris has told us all about you! Come on in, she's still in the shower, so she'll be a while. Make yourself at home, and I'll be down in a little while."</p><p></p><p>From that point on, Daniel couldn't keep his eyes off the angelic Krystle. While Iris was also beautiful, blonde and blue-eyed, she lacked the radiant, ethereal glow that Krystle had; not to mention Krystle kept on proving just how sweet, honest, caring, loving and genuine a person she was. Iris was also sweet and kind, but Krystle just seemed to be superior in every single way. </p><p></p><p>Daniel kept himself in check, though; he never made a move on Krystle. Not one single pass, not one single act that would betray his attraction to her... but even then, it did him no good, as he kept on falling further and further in love with her... and he kept on hating himself more and more for what he was doing to Iris. </p><p></p><p>Finally, Daniel realized the only solution: he had to break ties with both sisters. He knew it would hurt Iris, who was crazy about him, but he knew it would hurt more if she ever knew the truth. And Krystle was sure to get hurt as well. There was nothing else to do but leave. </p><p></p><p>Daniel was correct in that Iris was devastated by the sudden disappearance of the first man she had ever loved. Krystle was furious at Daniel for breaking her sister's heart, but she focused more on comforting Iris. "She's the important one here!"</p><p></p><p>Sadly, things took a turn for the worst: a month later, Iris revealed that she was pregnant... and the father could only be Daniel Reese, the only man ever to touch her. Krystle's fury nearly exploded: even though Iris didn't say anything, Krystle still jumped to the conclusion that Daniel left because of the baby. She swore she would never forgive such a callous act, and that if she ever laid eyes on Daniel Reese again, she'd hit him so hard it would knock the charming smile right off his face!</p><p></p><p>Iris, however, had an even bigger problem to face: she was knocked up, and desperately needed a husband pronto! Especially before their parents found out. Thankfully it didn't take long to secure a candidate: Frank Dean. Krystle never cared for the boy, but he was there for Iris, and that certainly counted. </p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>1963:</strong> Sammy Jo Dean is born. Iris allowed Frank to believe that he was the father ("It's just easier that way!"). </p><p></p><p>Krystle (21) meets Mark Jennings (22), an aspiring tennis star. Krystle is *very* impressed... and smitten. The two start dating. Krystle's parents disapprove of the relationship but Krystle was in love... and that love blinded her to all the red flags (ie, his drinking problem). </p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>1964:</strong> Krystle (22) and Mark (23) get married. At first, things are great. Mark is steadily rising through the ranks as a tennis pro, but his tournaments take him out of town for weeks at a time. Krystle is patient, understanding that this was the career path that her husband chose, and she would support him. Tirelessly did she support him. </p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>1967:</strong> Unfortunately, Mark's (26) drinking begins affecting his performance, and no matter what everybody told him (his coach, his friends, his fellow tennis players, even Krystle herself) he would not kick the habit. Things take a nose-dive when Mark is dropped by his circuit sponsor. This was a significant downturn in his marriage to Krystle (25).</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>1969:</strong> Iris Dean (25) dies of a severe asthma attack; she had been in the house with Sammy Jo (6) before she cried out, "I can't breathe!" and ran out, leaving her daughter behind. After the funeral, Frank announced that he was taking Sammy Jo to travel the country to do stockcar races. This would be the last time Krystle would see her little niece until 1981.</p><p></p><p>Worse still for Krystle (27), husband Mark (28) wasn't there for her during this time, preferring to booze around with random bimbos (though she didn't know about this last part... except she did suspect it). </p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>1971:</strong> Krystle (29) and Mark (30) face mounting debt... which Mark solves by secretly hocking Krystle's grandmother's locket, the most precious thing that she owned. At first, Krystle does not know what happened to the locket and is heartbroken over the loss... yet when Mark announces that their bills and debt were paid, she began to suspect... yet naively chooses to ignore it. She just can't face the possibility that her husband would do something like that (she probably would have hocked the locket herself; she was more hurt that her husband would go behind her back like that). </p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>1972:</strong> Krystle (30) and Mark (31) get divorced when the latter makes the decision to "cut her free." Although Krystle desperately clings to the last remaining threads of their marriage, she soon agrees that things were indeed over between them.
