Two Dutch smash hits with a little bit of international appeal are probably not remembered by today's younger audiences. Spetters (as "Spetters") from 1980. For mature audiences, that's why all the kids (including me, of course) wanted to see it. It seems as if we couldn't stop talking about it. The other one was De Lift (as "The Lift") from 1983, which may have been the first American-looking Dutch production (but I believe it was remade anyway). A must-see film at the time of release but don't think you'll find it on an internet "best of" list or even "forgotten gems" list.
