But wasn't I surprised when, a few months later, the moment I'd conjured was played out between Lady Jessica and her pondering over slicing or quartering Miss Ellie.</p><p></p><p>Sure, Jock spoiled the poisoned dwarf, but after his chopper careened into Matthew Blaisdel's jeep "in South America," Lucy was perpetually neglected, demeaned, made fun of, dumped by death or divorce, and was even ignored by her parents in California for 15 years and never allowed to visit.</p><p></p><p>I think Lucy was more damaged and vindictive than people generally believed. And she had the money to do something about it.</p><p></p><p>How many of the tragedies and myriad deaths that befell the Ewings were really byzantine, rococo plots of vengeance planned out and executed by Lucy? All while no one was looking, Lucy's usual dismissal by the family a fatal mistake...</p><p></p><p>Did she have some role in Pam's shadowy disappearance? Sure, Lucy hated Katherine, but we were never sure if Pam's half-sister was dead or alive at any given moment anyway... Was Angelica Nero hired to massacre the Ewings, a single late night phonecall from Atlanta the only contact required to put the scheme into action?</p><p></p><p>More importantly, and most plausibly, was Lucy in cahoots with Jeremy Wendell? After J.R. reneged on his promise to oversee his parents' divorce and turn Ewing Oil over to Weststar in 1981, Wendell might have found Lucy a useful moll inside the ranch house at Southfork... Or perhaps Jeremy was working for <em>Lucy</em>; in her possession, old photos of Wendell and much of the cartel in their early years, those compromising snapshots taken by a very young Jessida Farlow.</p><p></p><p>Blackmail, revenge and murder.</p><p></p><p></p><p>So innocent.
