I really do think she's one of the best actresses in the history of Hollywood, if not the best. (It's a debatable topic, I realise some people say she's overrated but that's an opinion that they're more than entitled to.) For those posters that are fans of Meryl, what are your top ten favourite Meryl Streep movies, in terms of her performance?

I'm still working my way through her filmography (especially her earlier roles), but currently my top ten are:

10. The Iron Lady

9. Florence Foster Jenkins

8. The Devil Wears Prada

7. Julie & Julia

6. Into the Woods

5. Heartburn

4. The Hours

3. It's Complicated

2. One True Thing

1. Mamma Mia!

I think Florence Foster Jenkins is such an awesome film and probably my favourite performance ever by Meryl Streep. The way she managed to convey the humour, tragedy, pathos, pride and likeability of the character was a real testament to her abilities as an actress. I've watched this film 3 times now and it gets better on every viewing.

I really do think she's as good as she's credited. You don't get accused of being "overrated" for 40 years without being damned good.

It's hard for me to choose a Top 10 because her performances are always so pitch perfect, Florence Foster Jenkins notwithstanding.
