Police in England and Wales recorded a 12% rise in homicides and a 16% increase in offences involving knives or sharp instruments in the year ending March 2018.
The number of homicides (murder or manslaughter) recorded by the police showed a fourth consecutive rise following a long-term decline, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) today.
Meanwhile, the number of police officers in England and Wales was 122,404 at the end of March - the lowest number since comparable records started in 1996.
Police are also solving fewer crimes and no one was charged in 9 out of 10 crimes committed.
Absolutely shocking figures but if the Government make cuts to the police service to fund tax cuts for the rich the a surge in crime is inevitable.
