I'm neither shocked nor surprised about the racist attacks online because I was aware of Johnson's knee bend comment before. Johnson and his cabinet of horror appeal to the same crowd as Trump's Repugnants - vile. And when the shit hits back they fake astonishment.

The whole situation probably wouldn't have been better for the players if England's team had won. The only difference is we now have all seen what can happen to them. But that's their life outside the stadium: verbally terrorized by racist morons. The scapegoats for every loser who need to feel imperious while degrading others.

Out of the 100-year old fascist play-book. Their dynamics are very well known to politicians and their strategists and they play it because they want it. Erdogan, Orban, Bolsonaro, Duda/ Kaczynski - they all get away with it because voters are alarmingly stupid and desinformed thanks to the capitalist dominated media that helped all of them into power with their fluff pieces. There isn't enough weed to come down... If these things happen somewhere in Europe it hurts as much as at home. I fear the wave of right-wing nuts over Europe isn't over - it's rising more than ever it seems. This is heartbreaking and infuriating to me.

A few months ago Johnson was denying the UK had a racism problem, in fact he was arguing that it was and "exemplar" for racial intolerance.

Yesterday, as soon as Marcus Rashford failed to score with his penalty I knew he would face a torrent of racist abuse online. Britain is becoming and increasingly scary place for black people and Boris Johnson not only doesn't care, he and his government are encouraging it.

England player Tyrone Mings tweeted this in response to Priti Patel condemning the racist abuse directed at black England players and he is spot on:

On Sunday a Tory MP said Marcus Rashford should spend less time feeding the poorest children in the country and more time practicing penalties. These people really are despicable.

Meanwhile, the England football players continue to show class and dignity
