As series 10 is currently showing, the star of the series, Brenda Blethyn, has revealed that they will begin shooting series 11 this year.

Vera is a British crime series set in northern England. The character is based on Ann Cleeves books.

4 episodes per year, 90 minutes per episode. (Is that the standard for British crime series?)

Vera Stanhope is a single woman without kids. She lives in her father's old house in the middle of nowhere and drives a 4×4. Always dressed in mac & hat, she's a loner who is obsessed with her work as a cheif inspector.

I love the series and the mood in it. Plus the scenery.

Many years ago I watched 6 or 7 episodes on Belgian TV, and then it stopped. I wish netflix had it so I could watch the other episodes.

Vera looks like a very old woman who's certainly past her fertile years - can a series about such a woman be enjoyable?
