As the Shapiros created Dynasty and The Colbys they could have any characters cross between shows if the actors agreed to do so. If an actor was hired for Dynasty only they wouldn't have to make cross over appearances on The Colbys but they could if they wanted to. If The Colbys had went on, possible future contracts could have added that cross overs may be required, or negotiations with actors could have taken place. Individual writers would be hired to work on The Colbys and of course they would create new characters but those characters would be the property of the show's original creators and the production company I would imagine.</blockquote>
