I’m always delighted when a soap leads me by the nose and I look back thinking, "Why didn't I see the signs?" Of course, there came a moment when I realized what might happen, but looking back, I like how the whole thing was set up. When Carter and Daphne got married, I thought that was it—at least for Daphne. I wasn't exactly thrilled with Daphne when she first joined the show, unlike some others. B&B has introduced strong, independent women too many times, only for them to evolve over time into women whose main priority was having a specific man by their side—and that’s exactly what happened to Daphne. I was surprised that Daphne still had a role to play in the show after the wedding—exposing Ivy and then getting her own storyline about being unable to carry a child. I had actually assumed that was just a subplot, since B&B wanted to offer more storylines, and I thought Carter would eventually remember that his own beloved brother Marcus was adopted—making adoption an option for him—but things turned out quite differently than I expected. I’m still unsure about the chemistry between Steffy and Carter (it’s definitely better than the chemistry between Hope and Carter was back then). And do I even want Steffy to get pregnant? In any case, it’s great that B&B is once again building up that must-see moment—when the truth comes out—that every fan has to watch. I like Lawrence Saint-Victor, and when news broke that there would be a new soap featuring a predominantly Black cast on CBS, I had hoped he would join it—though, unfortunately, that didn't happen (at least not yet). I never really cared for Karla Mosley on B&B (neither before nor after the transgender storyline), but on BTG, she is one of the best in my opinion; that’s why I can imagine Lawrence Saint-Victor really shining on BTG. And who knows—maybe after the scandal and the revelation that Finn is the baby's father, Carter might leave Los Angeles and end up in Fairmont Crest. Unfortunately, I found Taylor and Deacon as a couple totally uninteresting. Even though Sheila and Deacon as a couple were bizarre and plot-driven, I found them more compelling together than Deacon with Taylor. I thought Krista Allen and Sean Kanan had promising chemistry in the few scenes they shared back then; it’s a shame nothing more came of it while she was still playing Taylor. As for Sheila, I’m actually surprised by how much effort is being made to keep her on the show, and that no one in charge at CBS Daytime is ordering her return to Y&R. I think right now would be the perfect time for her to go back to Genoa City; I can envision much more exciting storylines for her there than what she has currently on B&B.
