I just recently caught CAUGHT (1949) with Bel Geddes and James Mason. I'd never seen it before. It's really pretty good in a '40s noirish way. It's the tale of a young model from a poor Denver family who winds up marrying a wealthy man who turns out being a controlling, anxiety-riddled sociopath whom she leaves and then becomes the receptionist for a frazzled doctor she falls in love with. The film was completely dismissed at the time, including by critically boorish Bosley Crowther, along with all those period reviewers whom don't seem to know what to say so they just make up weird observations that sound pretentious and are off-base. Today, the picture's apparently much better perceived. My only problem was that the movie ends too abruptly when BBG's life is instantly redeemed once
her baby dies.
