Frances McDormand is excellent, one of the best actresses ever.

I saw this film recently and Frances McDormand was indeed very good. She seemed to be playing a variation of the character she played in Fargo.

I saw Call Me By You Name this weekend. Wow, what a great film. I've never seen or even heard of Timothée Chalamet, before but what a fantastic young actor he is. The last scene when he just looks into the fireplace and says nothing but you see his emotions changing was nothing short of brilliant and he stayed in character for ages while the end credits ran.

I've not seen The Darkest Hour yet but I think had that film not been released this year, Timothée Chalamet would be picking up all the best actor awards instead of Gary Oldman.

I also loved the songs in the film written and sung by Sufjan Stevens.

I watched "The Interview" a couple of days ago. I had read a lot about it, but the infamous duet of Franco-Rogen gives me the creeps for their self-awareness and egotistical lack of originality. I do love Franco when he plays dramatic parts, though.

It´s a pity they misused and wasted Lizzy Caplan´s great talent, but I must say that the movie became so much funnier and cleverer when Randall Park showed up in his controversial role of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. He manages to be believable, human and much more appealing than the starring duo. The true-life Kim should be grateful to both Randall and Rogen for this portrayal.

This is a batshit crazy comedy (paraphrasing a line from the movie itself) but the budget is big, as is the bad taste in anything related to the dialogues between Franco and Rogen. Billy Wilder could do the same kind of savage anti-totalitarism films without that, by the way.

It's becomes more interesting when you pick up more of the allogories with the The Bible. I missed a lot of them when I first watched the film so had to Google them afterwards and the film made a lot more sense as a consequence.

As it went on I suspected he was Jesus, but when the baby was sacrificed I was horrified. I still don’t understand why all the people kept coming to the house so may have to do a little more research as you suggest.
