She quit in February, find it odd someone could have just found out but I suppose there's been other things to focus on.
The actors very elderly now, and in declining health - I suppose at some point you need to leave. I see Ian Beale is being written out for a little while which will leave the show with no original characters for a little while.

I think it's a mix of both - she's nearly blind and in her early 90s - she was hardly going to be given romance of the year or gangster storylines......
Seems to be similar to what happens to many old soap actors who refuse to leave when they probably should. Producers can't really use them as there worried they might have to off for health reasons, actor gets frustrated at lack of story-lines and the two just give up on it.
It's the ones who are happy background drifting that tend to stay the longest, June seemed okay with that for a while but has lost that will. There's hundreds of examples of this.
