I never liked the word brunch. Just call it breakfast or lunch, whichever it’s closest to. If I have something to eat after lunch but before dinner do I call it Linner?

Every time I go to the supermarket for one thing, I have it in my head and when I find it, there is always always someone standing in front of it.

It’s like that bit where Ray thinks about the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

A few months ago I watched an episode of one of HGTV's home-renovation shows. I was unfamiliar with the show, but nothing else was on and it was...inoffensive enough. I didn't really give it much thought since none of those shows really stick out as unique or anything. So I got up this morning and could not really find anything to watch since several of the channels are clogged up with that ersatz Macy's Thanksgiving "parade" (that's another rant). While channel-surfing I landed on that same home-reno show and thought Oh, I watched an episode of that show once before--it was okay... but then realized they were airing the exact same episode I watched months ago. Of all the episodes they could have been airing, it had to be the one episode I'd already seen.

I'm afraid Willie living in Oz would do your health more harm than good. Because Aussies all say lunch. for most of us it's....
  • Breakkie
  • Lunch
  • Tea
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
(I think the battle between 'dinner' and 'tea' has been going on longer than I've been alive.) :)

Charity begging letters with my name embedded in the text.
Don't get me wrong - I have my chosen charities to which I donate regularly, but I can't afford to give to everyone who asks, and I find those transparently manipulative appeals with their phony personalisation more irritating than inspiring.

We had an ongoing joke where I used to work as my male manager had a weird obsession with Dieter Brummer. This led on to us compiling a list of Australian slang words for everyday use. They originated with Alf Stewart.

My favourite was always ‘Well stroke my flamin’ pink bits!’ @Rove

I've said this many times, but I could happily rip the throat out of people who soup up their car engines - dear God is there a need really?!

This is daft, but it bugs the life out of me. Singers who change their names to ridiculous things like:

FKA twigs - what even is that????
Ned Rock n Roll - I mean seriously.
It informs me the talent is in the creation of their stage name rather than their ability to sing/rap.

I think the publicists/agents have them do it to make them search-engine friendly. And just like these attention-seeking parents who saddle their newborns with ridiculous names, they're not thinking far enough ahead to recognize how the name will end up a liability when trends change and the name becomes a joke.
