Oh, I'm certain Russia is capable of sabotage, subterfuge, and "neutralizing" dissidents. The problem is the US is also cable of those things, which makes it hard to know who to trust. The US is firmly on the side of Ukraine (they receive billions in aide while those at home struggle,) which makes it impossible to know. The US has also proven they're not above propaganda campaigns in order to manufacture consent. I'm not certain Russia isn't behind the sabotage of the pipelines, but the US certainly has a stake in this conflict.

But countries in the Baltic, Poland, Hungary etc are sovereign nations with the right to make agreements and secure their borders.
I thought all member states of Nato had a voice in who can be a member.
Why should Russia have veto power over another sovereign nation's rights?
But by the same token, why promise Russia there will be no NATO expansion if you don't plan to honor the deal?

If you really know Russia, it makes very much sense for them to blow up their own pipelines and put the blame on others. One loss but so much more to gain. It's what Russia does best. Afterall, this is the country that sends KGB agents to poison objects for people who are against the Russian regime. Poison tea, umbrellas, you name it. The nuttier the better. Then blame others countries for it. This is what they do. This is what they make facts in their gigantic propaganda machine. They need for it to be logic or else people won't buy into it. Kreml is lethal.

Putin is a dictator and a creep, without question. But not all of this is the fault of Russia, no matter how much we want to simplify it.

Reports are that Putin is seriously ill, and the population is rebelling vehemently against the draft.

If he dies soon, what do you suspect will happen, especially regarding Russia's attitude towards Ukraine?

Putin is to evil to die before 90. But if he were to die soon, he'd hand the leadership over to someone who will continue his mission, no doubt. Someone he's trained well.

So Russia will steal 4 Ukranian areas starting tomorrow. They held referendums and about 99% voted that they want to belong to Russia. Did they threaten the voters? Terrorize them? Or hired people to act like voting Ukranians?

I think I might travel to Russia and hold a referendum of my own there, asking if they want me to be their new President, yes or no? The no votes will go straight to the paper shredder instead of the pile of votes to count.

I think you are right. Putin or no Putin, Russia is a bad actor and they will continue to act as such.

What a sham about the "vote" in 4 provinces, and the (impossible) percentage.

Regardless of anything else, Putin took the action to invade without any regard
for human suffering

The role of the US government has long been to invade any country it wants without regard for human suffering while provoking foreign maniacs to do the same.

That doesn't excuse the actions of these maniacs, but the role of the US media is to lie about their motives while sweeping US duplicity and provocation under the rug.

I am not sure about the media. From what I have been reading, most the media tends to be hyper critical of the USA and Western democracies in general.
The reporting is overwhelmingly extreme left, and in line with Big Tech's censorship of views that do not support their agenda.
International issues such as the invasion of the Ukraine - there may be some layers. I think sometimes, the reporters are not skilled at reporting serious international issues, and other times they conform to what might be considered a one world agenda.
There is a woman, Rose Koire, a self admitted liberal, who has posted and reported extensively on UN Agenda 21, where she elaborates on these issues

While some people claim with certainty that Russia is responsible for blowing up their own pipelines, others discuss the many motives The US had for doing the same thing:

No, Russia Didn’t Blow Up Their Own Pipeline - YouTube

I doubt Biden would first say they could stop Nord Stream, then send intel to countries that they suspect someone will attack the pipelines very soon, and then do it. It sounds too much like the theories that Bush Jr ordered the 9/11 attacks.

When the US attacks a country, they usually defend their actions publically just before they attack. It's not as sneaky, it's much more straight-forward.

This pipeline attack smells Russia. They get to play the victim while they don't have to deliver gas to Europe. They force Europe's already extremely expensive electricity prices up. And if Russia gets to play the victim of attacks, they can tell their people that others are attacking and they have to defend themselves more, and take the decent part of Ukraine in the process.

The war has been going bad for Russia. Putin thought it would be easy and fast. It didn't, so he has to get sneakier, uglier and more desperate. Like taking Russian prisoners and forcing them out to war, as well as non-military men. If they refuse, they go to jail.

Now that Russia has declared 4 Ukrainian provinces as Russia using fake elections, Putin is bound to say that anyone trying to take "Russian ground" will regret it. Probably teasing nuclear weapons.

I'm not necessarily convinced either way. Yes, the US usually defends their actions publicly before an attack, but they wouldn't do that if they were preparing to blame Russia. The fact that they had intel about the attacks in June seems odd. If they warned the European nations involved, couldn't they have monitored activity around the pipelines?

Biden's carefully chosen words and the way in which he said them seemed rather chilling to me. I can't rule out Russia, but I can't rule out my own government either.

I'm referring to US cable news in particular. Lately, CNN and MSNBC appear to be even more hawkish than Fox News (Many neocons have even defected to these networks.)

And yes, while they are on the side of big tech corporations censoring their critics, they're also on the side of the military industrial complex (especially since they went "woke.")

Phil Donahue and other commentators were fired by MSNBC for being against the Iraq War. Jimmy Dore has done several videos on the subject including this recent one:

If we are to blame (and I have no idea either) any reasonable person realizes Biden isn't running the country nor setting policy -- much less clandestine policy.

What a mess.

Yes, that's apparent after watching him walk around aimlessly on stages, ramble incoherently, and ask where deceased lawmakers are. However, he still has moments of coherency where the cold and calculating Biden comes out. I'm sure he's told what to say, but you can tell he'd be on board with it if he still had his full cognitive abilities.

I can picture his handlers telling him to state bluntly and coldly that we will end the Nord Stream pipelines by any means necessary while not providing any specifics.

I dunno. I think "cold and calculating" is a step up for Biden, even in his best days.

I think the key word is "reasonable" Some people are so entrenched in their support of this incompetent and corrupt administration that they refuse to acknowledge realities.

A partial list:

Inflation at a 40+ year high
Workforce participation rate at a 40+ year low/near low
Negative GDP growth for two straight quarters, indicating a recession
Gas prices at record highs
Grocery Store prices at record highs
A border crisis that is out of control (This is KH's specific assignment)
Parents being harassed, bullied, vilified and worse simply for raising objections to
what they perceive as agendas that disrespect their values
A major spending bill that the Congressional Budget Office reported as having little or no effect on inflation
Substantial Rises in violent crime, especially in urban areas
Continued supply chain problems resulting in shortages such as Baby formula.
A stock market that is lower now than when Biden took office.

Keep in mind that Biden has a majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

I haven't even mentioned any number of other failures, let alone the
errors in international relations.

The only reason that Biden will not be impeached is that the nation would be in much more
chaos and decline if KH became president.

The performance or philosophy of past administrations does not excuse this
staggering incompetence

This is the result of the people's votes. They have no basis to justify it, so they resort
to denial, name-calling, vilification, and tantrums.
Remember, the people had numerous other choices in the Democratic primary,
that might have handled the office better. It is difficult to imagine
much worse, but if KH becomes President...Look Out.

Biden may indeed be at the front for influential elites, but even they need to
ask themselves if this can continue

And I was watching a rightwing show the other day where they asserted that "everything was great under Trump."

Neither party gives a damn about the working class. Only the rhetoric varies.

Which is why we're screwed without a viable third party -- one with strict internal rules about "campaign contributions" and politicians selling out their constituency in advance, knowing that seats on corporate boards await them after they do so.

Which is why there is so much fervent effort from preventing a viable third party from happening.

And Andrew Yang's proposed third party for billionaires won't cut it.

Perhaps. Before his mental decline, I always got this sense that he thought of himself as this tough badass (particularly the way he talked about his crime bill in 1994.)

We don't see that side of him very much now, but he'll occasionally say something that comes off as a veiled threat.

It's always amused me that he has this reputation as cuddly Uncle Joe because I've seen him get quite belligerent, and that includes with members of the public.

I do think he saw himself as a tough badass, and even he described himself as "arrogant" when he was younger and he was caught (which I well-remember) plagiarizing other people's speeches, laughably.

Yes. In fact, I think his laughably bad plagiarism helped cost him his first presidential run in 1988.

It was all over the news back then, which would never happen today. I was only five at the time, but Jimmy Dore aired the archive coverage.

I think you make legitimate points, but until then, it is a two party system and elections have consequences on the economy, judicial appointments,
law enforcement, international relations and lots of other decisions.

Did you notice Nancy Pelosi's quote about immigrants and how they are needed to pick fruit?

Does anyone really believe that the lamestream media would be so silent if the same quote
was from a conservative?

FOX and MSNBC say different things. The Dems and the Repubs say different things. But it's all good-cop/bad-cop political theater designed to trick people into thinking they have a real democracy when it's completely bought out. And will remain so.

The American government doesn't give a damn about the people of Ukraine -- but why would they when the American government doesn't even care about its own
people.
