Oh, I'm certain Russia is capable of sabotage, subterfuge, and "neutralizing" dissidents. The problem is the US is also cable of those things, which makes it hard to know who to trust. The US is firmly on the side of Ukraine (they receive billions in aide while those at home struggle,) which makes it impossible to know. The US has also proven they're not above propaganda campaigns in order to manufacture consent. I'm not certain Russia isn't behind the sabotage of the pipelines, but the US certainly has a stake in this conflict.
But by the same token, why promise Russia there will be no NATO expansion if you don't plan to honor the deal? But countries in the Baltic, Poland, Hungary etc are sovereign nations with the right to make agreements and secure their borders.
I thought all member states of Nato had a voice in who can be a member.
Why should Russia have veto power over another sovereign nation's rights?
