Yes, Trump would never be a viable option for president in any functioning democracy. Sure, we can choose who sits in Congress and the White House, and then they serve the same nefarious interests as usual. Our "democracy" is in the hands of defense contractors, Ukraine, Israel, Wall Street, and corporate America. Good luck trying to reverse that.
The Dem primaries certainly aren't "free and fair." The DNC clearly had their thumb on the scale for Hilary in 2016. In 2020, mainstream media outlets from NBC to The New York Times admitted the 2020 Iowa caucuses "tarnished the vote" and were "a system wide disaster." A Politico article stated that "DNC meddling led to Iowa caucus debacle."
Both parties scheme to get the establishment's pre-approved candidates on the ballot ahead of time. The Dems are surprisingly more adept at this than the Republicans. Aside from blatant meddling, the Dems also have superdelegates. In contrast, neocons couldn't prevent Trump from becoming the Republican nominee in 2016. Their plot to anoint Nikki Haley isn't going as planned either. Thus, the general election will be between two feeble-minded, corrupt war mongers yet again. We'll see who voters resent more now.
As far as Trump trying to overturn the 2020 election goes, what was the motivation behind Russia-gate in 2016? They're all crooks trying to cling to power any way they can.

Yes, and DNC emails revealed that party strategists privately admitted amongst themselves that they preferred Trump -- this man they hated -- win the presidency than for Bernie to receive the party's nomination (and possibly win the election). And then worked sabotage Bernie themselves.
So much for their fear that Trump will destroy a democracy they care little about anyway.
