It's finally over now? Good that it was dismissed. An actor shouldn't be held accountable when given a weapon. It's not his job to make sure it's safe. He should feel reassured that it's completely safe when given the weapon.
Time to produce weapons for acting. Real weapons that have been altered so they can't be loaded with real bullets.

I am also glad that it's over. I am sure Alec must be relieved to be able to put this nightmare behind him.
With any luck the public will forget about this and people won't keep taunting him about the cinematographer's death.
It was not his fault. Now I hope everyone can just let it go and let him move on with his life.
Still having said that it does seem like less than 2 years in jail for causing another woman's death is a rather low punishment for the gun handler.
The real victims in this tragedy is her family who will have to get through life without her. I am sure their pain won't end in 17 months.

It depends -- as a producer, he could have had some potential liability. And as a producer who actually did the shooting, it looked even worse.
Most actors don't do a security check, a shot to the ground, before doing a scene. But I think they're supposed to.
But how do you wind up with a live round in the gun and it hits two people??
I'm not sure about that. Alec Baldwin is an intelligent, talented guy. But he has that fun-to-hate element to him that's hard to ignore.
But that might actually help him, now that the legal stuff is over. His hardened personality seems tough to perforate. Where killing people and "getting away with it" could be seen as a masculine characteristic... Unlike, say, Matthew Broderick whom people still pillory for his fatal car crash 37 years ago because he seems like he might "feel it" more (and probably does).
Has Rosie O'Donnell killed anybody yet? I might have overlooked the story...

Sadly I don’t think the taunting will ever stop for him. I feel it should be enough that the charges against him were dismissed but unfortunately I’m afraid a lot of people have convicted him in their minds.

Right. I'm pretty sure Alec wasn't being charged because he, as an actor, pulled the trigger but, as a producer, he could be considered the boss of the armorer. Producer is a vague title and the prosecutors would have had to prove that Alec was directly involved with and responsible for other aspects of the daily production versus it being a symbolic, vanity title.

This is how Deals with The Devil wind up. And he probably doesn't even mind it all that much.
After the controversy, she doubled-down and tweeted something about "man-terrupting" and Alec appeared to blame himself.
So he's in for an eternity. In Hell. When you know you don't deserve anything else.

RUST director, Joel Souza, just did an interview with Billy Bush. Souza is very gracious and he really watches his words, navigating around the topic very carefully, but it's clear he still holds very hard feelings towards Alec.
